Re: Briggs - "Lets Go Haye"
Then you look at the WBA ranks, do whatever you like, Briggs is simply higher ranked as David Haye and there is no reason for any top contender to put David Haye above anyone else.Controversial wrote:Briggs had two fights in 2015, one against against 48 year old Pettranyi who was coming off a KO loss, and the other against a shot Marrone who came out of retirement to fight Briggs. You do know boxrec rankings aren't official in any way don't you? Boxrec rankings mean little and are worked out on a daily formula, the fact Haye has been out the ring for 3.5 years would affect them anyway. Even if you go by them Briggs is currently ranked 47th and Haye 48th so hardly anything it them anyway. Briggs is past it, watch his fight against Marrone, I've seen quicker statues and he can't even punch a heavy bag for more than 10 seconds without being out of breath. Haye knocking Briggs out would mean little, Haye needs far better names than him.asdfjkl wrote:
Briggs has beaten several opponends quite recently who were ranked higher by boxrec as Mark de Mori. Also, there are others saying Haye got no time left and using that as an excuse to let him fight top contenders while he hasn't proved to be worth it. Wladimir already said he never deserved a shot at Klitschko in the first place and losing all 12 rounds was actually a far better performance as expected. Briggs is higher ranked as David Haye at this moment for a reason and I think it would be a fair and normal match.
I really don't see why there's so much hype around Haye. I wrote about him beïng after money because people blamed Briggs to be after money, while Briggs seems to be just after a fair fight.
And at your other post, it's allways funny to fool sarcasts lol, but you probably don't understand that.

Re: Briggs - "Lets Go Haye"
The point was rankings mean little. Plus Haye has been inactive for several years so anyone who has won a few fights would likely be ranked higher than him. If Haye got a title shot based on beating Briggs that would be an absolute joke. Look at any of the official rankings and there are guys in the top 10 who shouldn't be there, the HW division is a joke which is why Haye probably fancies his chances at getting a title. I can't see what you see in Briggs, if you think a load of 1st round wins means anything then they only mean something if the opponent is half decent. In the last 5 years who do you think Briggs best win has been over?asdfjkl wrote: Then you look at the WBA ranks, do whatever you like, Briggs is simply higher ranked as David Haye and there is no reason for any top contender to put David Haye above anyone else.

Ofcourse I talk about numbers, numbers are facts, opinions are opinions. David Haye doesn't deserve a shot with bad numbers.

Re: Briggs - "Lets Go Haye"
Huh what are you talking about, who said Haye deserves a title shot? If Haye gets himself into a position to challenge for the title then good luck to him. Same for Briggs. All I'm saying is beating Briggs means nothing because Briggs is old and shot. You keep avoiding any specific question about Briggs because you can't argue with anything except numbers of 1st round wins or boxrec rankings. Do you seriously think Briggs would beat Haye, it wouldn't even be competitive. Haye being a former cruiserweight or having less fights than Briggs has had 1st round wins means jack. I even think de Mori would beat Briggs these days.asdfjkl wrote:

If you aren't asking questions, then I can't answer them either.
If David Haye manages to win against Briggs it would be a much more massive statement as winning against Mark de Mori or whatever his name was.

He has a punchers chance just like any HW would. The reality is Haye would be far too quick and flatten him, or Briggs would be knackered after two rounds.asdfjkl wrote:

De Mori was a comeback opponent after 3.5 years out. Plenty of fighters ease their way back after long layoffs so not sure what your point is to be honest. If Haye continues to fight the De Mori's of the world then yes you would have a point in criticising him but as his next opponent is yet to be announced then why criticise him?
I've asked plenty of questions, you just avoid them. I'll will ask one again, who has Briggs beat in the last five years who was half decent and Briggs looked good doing it?

And the other question, well actually every opponend he faced and several of them were ranked higher as the opponend of David Haye.
In other words Briggs proved more in the past 3 years as Haye did.

So your comparing Briggs opponents to someone who wasn't even fighting 3 years ago. Genius. Forget comparing him to Haye, who was Briggs best win over in the last five years? Also who do you think Haye should've fought in his comeback?asdfjkl wrote:

Ranked higher by one body, Haye is ranked higher by others. Valuev indeed, but he had pain in all of his bones and Haye didn't even deserve the win.Combray wrote:Are you being deliberately obtuse or are you just incredibly stupid?asdfjkl wrote:Oh, like that's any differend with David Haye?
Valuev, Ruiz, Harrison, Chisora were all top 20 (top 10 in some cases) even Barrett and Bonin are a class above anyone Briggs has beaten.
Ruiz not top 20, not even 25 actually.
Harrison was ranked even lower and everybody still called him a cheat.
Chisora I'm not a 100% sure any more, he was probably about rank 20 at the time.
Barrett was in fact ranked higher as Harrison and Chisora indeed, while we all knew he was the worser fighter, this was because of very very his lucky first round KO against Tye Fields with help of a fast counting referee, Haye fought him at the perfect moment, the match after that same Barrett got KOed in two rounds by Odlanier Solis which was very normal.
I have no idea what makes you think Bonin has ever been any good, you clearly don't seem to know what you're talking about, he's pretty much a dwarf heavyweight version of Gary Cornish.
David Haye has had two unfair shots against high leveled opponends in his life and lost them both, as expected.
Haye is very very selectively selecting his opponends, but in fact, he's really nothing special, he and Briggs are very similar.

Doesn't matter is Ruiz was WBA champion, he wasn't a top 20 and that's what you were acting like he was, neither was Harrison btw.Combray wrote:Valuev was WBA champion even with 'pain in his bones'asdfjkl wrote:Valuev indeed, but he had pain in all of his bones and Haye didn't even deserve the win.

Ruiz was WBA Mandatory (IE: Haye HAD to fight him)
Harrison was EBU Champion (this usually earns at least a top 15 world ranking)
Chisora was top ten end of.
There was nothing remotely 'lucky' about Barretts win over Fields.
I didn't state that Bonin was 'any good' however I DID state he was better than most of the people Briggs has beaten.
Why are you unable to spell a simple word like opponents?
You've answered my question for me as well, it's quite evident YOU ARE incredibly stupid.
Chisora has been at one point indeed, both times when Tyson Fury fought him actually, but not at the moment he fought David Haye at his 3rd streak lose lol.
The win against Barrett was very very lucky, I guess you haven't even seen the fight, if Fields didn't try to keep standing the whole time, but fell to the ground straight away, he would have stood up, the fight would have gone on and Barrett would very most likely have lost anyway, as expected. It was a bit like the Fury Cunningham fight.
Lol, yea Bonin was better as most people Haye has beaten, but that's not what you stated, there are many many boxers Briggs has beaten that are far superior to Bonin, even guys like Ellis, Payne, Valdes and Liakhovich are lol.
