The day after it happens every Syrian on the planet applies for a boxing license
That may not be such a bad thing. Fast Eddie has PPV cards to stack.

It's not like he has a history of being in countries where he was not meant to be or anything.

...so the idea of a Rigo fight going ahead with no issues at all has again been blown up. The guy has, time and time again, proven to be a real difficulty to deal with, both in the ring and out of it.

All fair and good to blame Bob Arum for failing to promote the guy and HBO for failing to back him but he seems like nightmare to work with, especially with Caribe, who seem more and more like cowboys every time they are mentioned.

I understand he needs to train, but does he need to go to Russia to do that? Are he and his team not aware of Holidays in the country he is visiting? Are he and his team not able to secure a visa well before travelling to Russia? Are he and his team not aware of the frosty relationship between Russia and the UK at the minute.

Anyway I guess that's another bridge burned if this fails happen, and there's not many bridges left for him.

Hopefully Rigo doesn't get given a temporary UK visa then try to claim asylum, that would give the Daily Mail a field day :o

fornicate Rigo, he wants the big fights and big money but does fornicate all to get it, he should have been training over here anyway and gone to Frampton-Quigg to make his presence felt not hiding in fornicating Russia of all places.

I hope Frampton fights Donaire or moves up and fights LSC or Selby, he's worked hard to build a fan base, what's Rigo done? Got the boot from American TV because of his safety first style. He's got enough skill to dominate and put on great performances but we get shit like his last fight. I'm done with him.

I hope it gets sorted - would be good to see Rigondeaux fight on these shores, and I hate it when a "whoa!" fight comes up and then doesn't happen, like Broner v Sykes.
Why didn't Broner v Sykes happen? I remember being disappointed, but don't remember why - was that a visa issue as well?
Don't think it was a visa thing, but can't remember what did happen!
Im sure it was supporting another big fight and that fell through so Broner/Sykes fell by the wayside, cant remember what the main event was though

Oh yeah, that rings a bell now - think it might have been the Khan v Peterson rematch which was cancelled when Peterson failed his test?

Exactly! Its not like there's nowhere to train over here. Its just unprofessional to me to leave it this late, a world champion should be in the country 2 weeks before the fight no mater who the opponent is, this is very disrespectful.

Not on Franks case but its one thing after another for him.

Another show where you buy a ticket and end up feeling dissapointed. The main event will be decent though, looking forward to that still.

Date changes, fighters pulling out, poor sales and now no visa!!

I had a ticket for Frankie Gavin v Van Heerden and got AJ in a walkover against Love because Eddie needed Gavin as an opponent for Brooke on a pay per view show, I also had a ticket for Eggington v Gavin and got Eggington v Evans (still a good fight but a think all will agree not as good). Both of those shows were promoted by Matchroom (and it was the main event that was effected) so I don't think its always one thing after another just for FW

Think it was yourself who mentioned something about him being difficult to deal with the other week. I hadn't realised this was the case. I thought with him coming over here to fight on an undercard and him constantly calling folk out that he would've been pretty easy going. He's in the 'who needs him' club and the top guys seem to all be looking for an excuse not to fight him so this latest balls up is just going to set him back further and give his targets another excuse (don't blame them tbh). Agree with what you say, it's hard to see just where he goes from here if the reports are true. Hell mend em!

Sounds like you've dodged a bullet there. Frankie is a cure for insomnia. What is happening with him anyway? Has he got a comeback planned?

Think his meeting with the board is tomorrow so depends on that I think.

I once read an in depth interview profiling Dewsbury's Gary Sykes (somewhere Yorkshire anyway) in which the very question of Broner was answered. It nearly happened twice - not once. Regretably I can't remember the reason but I know they were covered.

He's done a sideline in Computing, if that's any help... :-?
