Re: David Haye confirms world title talks!!
its good that haye is back
but there is one world champion......Fury.
we live in a crappy consumer age where 30-odd fighters win 1 bogus 'world' title and think it makes them some kind of number 1 contender. you cant have 30 number 1 contenders.
atm Wlad is number 1
Povetkin has to be number 2 having beaten 2 world class fighters in a row. This is a very rare thing
therefore you can keep ur 'world' titles....just someone fight povetkin please

Got to favour Haye in this matchup, although I'd love to see Browne knock him out.

Re: David Haye confirms world title talks!!
Haye hasn't won a fight since July 2012. His so called comeback fight was just some guy he paid to take a dive. And now he wants the big money championship fight, huh? And you got the media and the crooked boxing outfits playing it up like it's legit. Let him fight another big mouth, Briggs, and see what happens.
Re: David Haye confirms world title talks!!
But let's get it right, it ain't David Haye's fault that the WBA have split their title and have 2 World Champs throughout the weight divisions.Tarkus wrote:Yep, match made in heaven. It doesnt matter if it is a fake title or not as long as they can sell Haye vs AJ as an unification its perfect.
And many fighters have taken advantage of this- Scott Quigg being one I can think of just off the top of my head.
If a boxing fan wants to criticise Haye for taking advantage of this, then for the purposes of consistency, they must discredit ALL fighters who have one this - by winning the WBA Regular Title and not having fought the WBA Super Champion.
Re: David Haye confirms world title talks!!
Could not agree more. For me Browne, Quigg, Povetkin and other WBA regulars were never the champions. At the same time in this fight title is irrelevant. Browne is the right opponent for Haye right now, on his come back trail. It will tell us something about his current form. Thats all that matters at this time. If he beats Browne he earns his shot at Joshua/Martin winner in my book.Crease wrote:But let's get it right, it ain't David Haye's fault that the WBA have split their title and have 2 World Champs throughout the weight divisions.Tarkus wrote:Yep, match made in heaven. If Haye wants the Joshua fight, he needs it quick. Joshua is getting more experience under his belt, and definitely has the tools to beat Haye.Oiky wrote:i don't like david haye at all, he talks too much for me and alot of it is just![]()

If Joshua landed clean with the big right, he'd finish Haye off very quickly indeed.

yeah he'd bust haye if he landed the right, but i think if haye shows up how we know he can he'd be too explosive for a robotic joshua.jamesmcdonnell wrote:If Haye wants the Joshua fight, he needs it quick. The world isn't all about Haye, let's get real, on paper he fought one bum in the past 3 years, he clearly hasn't earned a titleshot. Unlike all the other mentioned names. Povetkin would have prefered to fight Wilder last year, Briggs would have liked to fight Klitschko in the past few years and Parker would have loved to fight some world title fights as well. Now what has Haye done to be even mentioned at all? I think even Whyte, or Hughie Fory have edone a more impressive performance in the past few years.Tarkus wrote: Could not agree more. Re: David Haye confirms world title talks!!
As I said I dont consider Browne a champion. Therefore anyone fighting him is not a title fight in my book. As far as achievements go Haye far surpasses anything Brown has done so far. Browne has one semi decent win in his carrier, the last fight against aging, fat, former contender. The fact alone that the absolute majority of fans would have Haye as a favorite in this fight proves that he "deserves" a shot at Browne.asdfjkl wrote:The world isn't all about Haye, let's get real, on paper he fought one bum in the past 3 years, he clearly hasn't earned a titleshot. The fight isnt even happening now because Browne prefers to fight Oquendo. Now how the fvck Oquendo deserve the shot if Haye doesn't. LMAO

Re: David Haye confirms world title talks!!
Yes, Wilder and Martin arnt champions either in the strict sense, but they are a legitimate belt holders, not that that matters for anything. Champion is Fury, Klit is number 1 contender, then Povetkin. Haye lost credibility because of the pull outs and inactivity, so I would not support his fight against these three. Everybody else is a fair game IMO, they are all themselves unproven quantities. As for Browne, he is fringe top 10 perhaps because of that win but lets face it, he is garbage. In fact I would favor the same Hughie Fury to beat him today.asdfjkl wrote:In that way I still consider Klitschko to be more of a champion as Deontay Wilder for example.Tarkus wrote:As I said I dont consider Browne a champion. Please!!. . . .No more talk about David "My Toe Hurts" Hayes and especially no more about Chisora or David Price. The U.K. has legitimate heavyweight boxers in the Furys to talk about.

Wilder won his WBC belt after Vitali Klitschko abdicated, Martin won the IBF after it was unjustly (in my opinion) taken from Tyson Fury, and even then didn't win the belt conclusively, as Glazcov lost the fight due to injury !
I will say though that I respect Martin's choice of opponent for his first defence of that title in Anthony Joshua ! While Wilder continues to avoid his mandatory challenger Povetkin !
Tyson Fury is the only REAL and TRUE Heavyweight Champion ! As he is the ONLY "Champion" that beat an existing Champion in Wladimir Klitschko !
As in the day's before the alphabet belts, there was only ONE Heavyweight Champ at any given time, Tyson Fury is the modern day equivalent !
As for David Haye demanding a shot at a title....Get back in the fornicating line and EARN your shot like everyone else has to ! The same goes for Shannon Briggs ! Past accomplishment's should not make you a special case ! Especially if like Haye you haven't had a meaningful fight in 3 years !
Get in fornicating line !!!

Re: David Haye confirms world title talks!!
Not really ! What I clearly meant was, if the "Heavyweight title" wasn't split up into four versions, Wladimir Klitschko who held three of them, and was beaten by Fury, made Tyson Fury the undisputed Heavyweight Champion....Back in the days of Jack Johnson, Jack Dempsey etc, there was no need for the term "undisputed" and they were just the "Heavyweight Champion"
Needless to say, if boxing still had one "Heavyweight Champion" it would be Tyson Fury !
I am sorry you are the only one who failed to understand my point sir !
And Haye has never tried jumping the que for a shot at Tyson's newly won titles ? And didn't complain like a bitch that "Tyson was avoiding the two most powerful punchers in the division (Him and Wilder) " ? I think you should have a gander at the videos on youtube !

Re: David Haye confirms world title talks!!
We all know Lucas Browne is not a world title holder, and to be honest I'm sick of seeing the words 'first Australian world champion' as the press keep calling him. Not taking anything away from Browne as he showed a lot of heart and grit to win against Chagaev but he'd get schooled by most top 10's and by Haye even though Haye has only just come back. Either way, Browne has already shut down the Haye fight, which is very smart of him and his team, so there's no point talking about this fight just yet.
Haye even after the lay off, and questionable motivation (cash monies only), still probably dispatches most top 10's with ease. With the exception of Fury, Wlad, Povetkin and Wilder. Based on his time before the lay off I think he could beat all four if he turns up, actually has a lot of talent and personally believe he bottled it in the fight against Wlad, if he pulled the trigger he would have Wlad in all sorts of trouble but he didn't so it's pointless speculating. As for fighting Joshua, well we all know this is what he's after because it would be a HUGE money fight and Haye would win at this moment in time hence why he's pushing for it so much, but he knows as much as everyone else that he needs that fight now and not in 12 - 18 months time where I believe Joshua, with more experience and Haye's ageing, will have the better of him.
Personally I just want Haye to take up the Briggs fight and flatten him.
Obviously all Briggs wants is the payday but sod it just give it to him it's a win win, Briggs is still rated highly in the WBA rankings so it will boost Haye up and we'll all get to see Briggs KTFO. Although I will miss Shannon's ramblings (guilty pleasure). LET'S GO CHAMP!

The words "talks" and "David Haye" are likely to appear in the same sentence.
