A few posts back, I included a link which quoted a VADA spokesperson as saying Lucas was tested at least twice in Chechnya.Sklar wrote:Says who? PED testing is expensive. Who tested him and why? Once before the fight and the post-fight test he failed.
VADA runs their protocol similar to WADA and USADA, testing many times randomly thru training camp and up until the fight.
Re: Lucas Brown Issues Statement
Have VADA at any point stated that the fail was from the 'post-fight' drug test in this case? Or have they merely released the sample serial number? I know what the churnalists have put out but what have the parties that matter put forward?koolkc107 wrote:A few posts back, I included a link which quoted a VADA spokesperson as saying Lucas was tested at least twice in Chechnya.Sklar wrote:Says who? Salido paid for his own after failing a test vs Guerrero, so it's not impossible for someone to do something like that...Sklar wrote:Says who? PED testing is expensive. Who tested him and why? Hatton Promotions issued a statement saying the following:
Ricky Hatton and Hatton Promotions were made aware on Monday night that Lucas Browne delivered a positive A sample drug test following his world title win over Ruslan Chagaev.
"We believe strongly that boxing should be free from performance enhancing drugs. We believe Lucas Browne to be a clean athlete who arrived in Chechnya a clean athlete.
"We are therefore conducting our own further investigation and cannot comment further at this time."
If the random VADA testing shows him testing clean all the days and months before the fight
I think they may have a real good case for him being given something or accidently ingesting
the substance IN RUSSIA.
He also openly talked about losing a stone and a half in weight through anxiety about the fight
the round times ran on 20 seconds in Chagaev's favour when he knocked Browne down and was cut short by 50 seconds when Chagaev gassed.
He sat ringside in a Purple Velvet Throne.

Re: Lucas Brown Issues Statement
It's actually super easy. Like, sometimes you'll order a cheeseburger from McDonalds, and it'll be loaded with steroids, EPO, clenbuterol, viagra, you name it. Performance-enhancing drugs are accidentally absorbed into peoples' bloodstreams all the time, and it seems to happen even more often with athletes. That's probably why they're athletes in the first place, is because their body is just naturally more likely to get accidentally dosed with PED's.asdfjkl wrote:He must have at least some explaination how it came in his body, is it possible to get it in your body on accident? If I see all those positive tests, I sometimes think, is it really possible that like 20% of the people out there have doping in their body without knowing it?

Dude, I don't even know. Isn't fat like the source of all strength? Didn't Usain Bolt have like hundreds of pounds of fat on him when he won all of those Olympic medals? I can't even think of a single reason why a professional athlete aspiring to be world champion wouldn't want to be covered in fat all over. Like, imagine if Michael Jordan was obese. He would've had like 7 championships, because all of that extra fat would've made him faster and stronger.Badhusker wrote:and why would a heavyweight want or need something to burn fat?

The last post too.
But, here is more absurd.
Dude waits til days before the tilt to decide he needs to be a few pounds lighter?
Remember, he tested clean all the way thru the fight with only the post fight coming up dirty.
And clenbuterol, of all things, just doesn't work in days- you need weeks of it daily.
So, it's clear you got jokes.
Got any explanations?
Re: Lucas Brown Issues Statement
It's not obtuse though, is it?koolkc107 wrote:No, it isn't spot on.
Actually, that thinking is rather obtuse.
If you test clean for months, even get to the venue and pass a test taken there
and then all of a sudden test dirty for something that could not have possibly helped
you gain any advantage in the fight in so short a span of time but is also sure to get
you a DQ, any sane person's alarm bells should be ringing loud and long.
He passed EVERY RANDOM TEST in training camp.
He took a test in Chechnya AND PASSED IT.
Meaning whatever he tested positive for post-fight HE MOST LIKE INGESTED WITHIN DAYS OF THE FIGHT OR RIGHT BEFORE IT!!!
Think people!
The FACT is athletes -- in many sports -- are continually tested AND pass, THEN test positive for banned substances. It happens all the time.
You're speculating with regards to the details of Browne's case. Perhaps it was tainted food -- which seems infinitely more likely than a conspiracy of some kind -- perhaps someone mixed up his supplements, perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.
Nice to see you jumping to a conclusion rather than waiting to see what happens though.

Re: Lucas Brown Issues Statement
You don't need weeks of it, the peak is after 8 days and after 14 it doesn't work any more. Bodybuilders use it two weeks off, two weeks on.koolkc107 wrote: And clenbuterol, of all things, just doesn't work in days- you need weeks of it daily

Re: Lucas Brown Issues Statement
The fact that eating livestock treated with Clembuterol, basically ventillan for livestock, will give the consumer a positive reading, the fact that Browne was stupid enough to drink a 'registration juice' prepared by the president of Chechniya, Browne's opponent's friend and also that Clembuterol, along with any amphetamines, will have a negative, detrimental effect on distance athletes suggests to me that this is a total stitch up.asdfjkl wrote:You don't need weeks of it, the peak is after 8 days and after 14 it doesn't work any more. Re: Lucas Brown Issues Statement
Ok, so this is for the world heavyweight title. Browne and team hatton knew where they were fighting and who they were fighting and who that person was mates with. I would've thought that a team would send a dietician, chef and its own food - no chances. If this didn't happen team hatton need to reassess their business. If it did and Lucas went against advice then he is paying a huge price. Seems to be little argument it was in his system so I see no way possible he keeps the win or title. Best he can hope for is a rematch.
Lucas body shape and stamina was greatly improved from his previous outings - I hope it was do to hard work.
I'm a Browne fan and have followed his career for a long time. I hope it works out but I doubt it does.

Given what you are contending about clenbuterol, tell me how he passes a test days earlier then fails it post-fight.
I'll wait...

Re: Lucas Brown Issues Statement
I didn't know he had a test before actually, that's new to me, but if you google what clenbuterol does (to animals) then you know the stuff can't be used for months in a row and you definetly don't need it for weeks in a row daily, like you said. If the test had been over 7 days before the final test it's very logical he hasn't been tested positive, if if happened less then 7 days it's still possible, especially if Browne assumed it was the only test.koolkc107 wrote:Ok, I'll bite.asdfjkl wrote:You don't need weeks of it, the peak is after 8 days and after 14 it doesn't work any more. It certainly doesn't make it impossible in every case. I don't know what Browne actually eated.
Re: Lucas Brown Issues Statement
Seems rather suspect to me. We can all speculate until blue in the face, but we don't really know what Lucas Browne is like. The two arguments I would have are:
1. Given how active Hatton would be in his preparations, and probably his nutrition, I cannot see any chance that he would allow something like this to happen.
2. Given that doping checks are done regularly (at least we hope so), it would seem odd to risk getting caught during a World title fight. I expected Browne to win the fight, and I am sure he did as well, so surely he didn't feel the need to cheat.
Anyway, who really knows.
