Michael Spinks would have given Rocky the fight of his life with his awkward style and his good jab by round's 6/7 Spinks would be slightly in front on all the score card's Rocky would be bleeding but would be getting through with some damaging body work by round 11 Spinks would start to feel all the pressure that Rocky has been applying and would have to stand and fight The Rock....... this would be the beginning of the end for Michael
by round 14 Rocky would be punishing Spinks and the ref would wisely step in to save Spinks from any further damage in a classic match

He best everyone except Mike Tyson. Spinks was a tremendous boxer and Marciano struggled with good boxers.

p.s.... and lest you mistakenly perceive this as some sort of attack on Rocky, I actually feel sorry for him in this matter. He made an honest defense of his title and landed a good punch, only to see it get tainted by all the controversy from the fight.

yeah, man ,the reason that Jersey Joe Walcott was not able to get up off the canvas as fast as you would have liked to have seen was because
his head was still ringing

I think one factor for some people who pick Rocky is that Spinks lost early to a man with a similar style. But this comparison is skewed to some degree by virtue of the fact that 1. Spinks was past prime and more or less semi-retired and 2. The man he lost too, while possessing some of Rocky's attributes was also quicker, bigger and more powerful. I've also always been suspicious about Spinks laying down in that fight. Marciano should probably be favored to beat Michael Spinks but its not something I say with any real conviction. Michael was tall, rangy, and awkward as hell to fight. He could also go fifteen rounds and adapt to the style of his opponent. And if this were a prime for prime match up, then we'd probably be looking at the 1985-1986 version who was still in his late 20's with less wear and tear than Rocky's other victims. Not to mention even slightly bigger than most of them.

Spinks would give Marciano absolute hell. I think Marciano eventually catches him at some point during the fight with his relentless attack and takes him out, but Spinks would be well ahead on the scorecards by then, and would probably have cut Rocky up pretty bad too.
