My Grandmother is better than Mark De Mori & she's dead (that would make her a perfect opponent for Haye)!Horse wrote:Briggs is better than De Mori.Syntax Error wrote:If it was up to me, then no, I wouldn't.
He's ancient, tubby & wheezes like an old diesel engine with a clogged DPF & does not belong in a boxing ring in 2016.
If they're lining him up for David Haye's 'Bum of The Month' retirement tour, then that will tell us all we need to know about Haye right now, as if Mark De Mori & Arnold Whathisname aren't telling us enough already.
If it was up to you: would you license Shannon Briggs to fight in the UK?

It would bring British boxing into disrepute.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Might put the punters off, imagine the face off!

Yes, but only to fight Joshua or Fury so he get's his head taken off and takes his Let's Go Champ bollocks back to the USA never to be heard from again.

What's actually happening with this anyway?
Somebody posted in another thread that Dimitrenko has tweeted that he isn't fighting Briggs.

If he passes a medical then let him fight.
The fact he surprisingly has a world ranking mean it's unlikely the board can say the gulf between the two is too huge.
I like Briggs and putting him in with a good opponent before Haye is a good stepping stone and gives everyone a chance to assess him properly.

Ofcourse you can license him, there are older heavyweights out there who became world champion at much higher age, he recently KOed other top 100 boxrec opponends in the first round and now all of a sudden people doubt about giving him a license?
You can better take Tyson Fury's in, he's clearly not 100% and wants to stop boxing soon anyway.

Somebody might've realized that Dimitrenko is too much for Briggs so they needed to find a cemetery with a stiffer opponent to make sure Briggs gets the win, and gets to get his ass kicked by one of the British stars. What's the point of bringing him to the U.K. after all if it's Dimitrenko that beats him.Webbo911 wrote:What's actually happening with this anyway?

Well, if he is under the Hayemaker team umbrella, they won't have any difficulty finding a daffodil for Briggs to knock over!gilgamesh wrote:Somebody might've realized that Dimitrenko is too much for Briggs so they needed to find a cemetery with a stiffer opponent to make sure Briggs gets the win, and gets to get his ass kicked by one of the British stars. He's still scheduled for the fight here on boxrec, I know that Dimitrenko is allways doing extremely idiotic around money and declined several fights, even quite recently, so I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't show up indeed because let's get real, Shannon is a tiny bit to big for Dimitrenko.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Maybe the fight was never on. He's also really old, and well shot. If Dimitrenko is scared of him he should just quit Boxing.asdfjkl wrote:He's still scheduled for the fight here on boxrec, I know that Dimitrenko is allways doing extremely idiotic around money and declined several fights, even quite recently, so I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't show up indeed because let's get real, Shannon is a tiny bit to big for Dimitrenko.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Maybe the fight was never on. I think the "Andy Ruiz Jr" vs "Ray Austin" fight is a lot more risky for Ray Austin his health, he's 45 or 46, has only fought 1 match in the past 5 years and Andy Ruiz Jr is pretty much a top contender who can achieve a top 10 ish rank.
That while Ray Austin already lost against Odlanier Solis and Stiverne ages ago.

he's hardly slurring his words etc.
I know he can pronounce Champ at the very least.

Plus Ruiz is usually a guy that has to kick your ass for a lengthy amount of time. Not a guy that'll just blast you out quickly. That usually doesn't do your brain any favors.asdfjkl wrote:Daffy seemed quite scared of him as well actuallygilgamesh wrote:He's also really old, and well shot. Even David Haye would have trouble filling the O2 with that one!!

Far worse boxers fighting!

Thats about right. Its a dangerous game. Even gjergerjaj might get badly hurt next.Horse wrote:If Briggs is receiving a thorough beating then the referee should step in and stop it.Stuarty30 wrote:Probably hits as hard and is more explosive. He could do some serious damage. I'm in two minds. If he meets all the requirements set by the board then why not. He's after a payday and needs the dough but on the other hand I'd hate to see him seriously hurt and Haye is certainly capable of doing just that.
The Vitali fight should have been stopped.
