Re: Jamie Cox wins appeal
Hopefully he will have a fight lined up soon - after all he has a hefty phone bill to pay

That doesn't change what we all thought. He's been cleared of common assault but the other charges stand which is why the jail sentence has been changed from a custodial one to a suspended one.Talkischeap wrote:http://m.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/1 ... ?ref=fbshr

This.
It's very straight-forward. He can apply to the southern area council to regain his license, but the fact is he is still serving a suspended sentence.
Usually, that means no boxing on bbbofc shows until its complete.

Re: Jamie Cox wins appeal
Surely the fact that Cox has been acquitted of assault means that there is also reasonable doubt as to the girl's claims that he broke into her gaff to harm her and therefore those convictions should also be overturned leaving Jamie not serving any suspended sentences and thus free to box again.
Did the lad have a good legal team ? How could a he said she said situation result in a conviction for assault when there was no physical evidence of an assault having taken place ?

The 600 texts a day claim should have been countered in court as well if it was bullshit, get the phone records and present them as evidence that she was lying or at the very least exaggerating and it starts to bring doubt over any other statements she made.CaptainSpacerod wrote:Surely the fact that Cox has been acquitted of assault means that there is also reasonable doubt as to the girl's claims that he broke into her gaff to harm her and therefore those convictions should also be overturned leaving Jamie not serving any suspended sentences and thus free to box again.

They had the choice to appeal all of the convictions like everyone has. They only chose to appeal the assault so I'm guessing that the evidence was more than just her wordCaptainSpacerod wrote:Surely the fact that Cox has been acquitted of assault means that there is also reasonable doubt as to the girl's claims that he broke into her gaff to harm her and therefore those convictions should also be overturned leaving Jamie not serving any suspended sentences and thus free to box again.
