“I think he’s juicing. He’s looking too big,” Wilder (33-0, 32 KOs) said. “I have people that have trained him and know him, and being from a different country, they have different techniques that they use." - Wilder told USA TODAY Sports in a telephone interview. Wilder offered no proof “He’s on some kind of steroids. But you know, that’s just my opinion." Wilder, who will likely face Povetkin if he defeats Eric Molina in his first title defense on Jun 13th said that he wants full drug testing if he fights Povetkin.
I guess Wilder was right after all with his assumption. Maybe that was originally why Povetkin wanted 6 months to "train" before fighting Wilder? Like Victor Conte once said, it is more of an IQ test than a drug test, and to fail it you have to be pretty stupid.
If Wilder accuses Povetkin of being on steroids and Povetkin was on a vasodilator, then that doesn't mean Wilder was "right." Plus, at the time that Wilder made this statement, the substance that Povetkin has in his system was legal. So he was actually wrong; Povetkin was on 0 illegal substances at the time that Wilder said that.
On an unrelated note, I also felt that Povetkin's bf% has been dropping with suspicious success, but he hasn't been caught using a substance any substances related to that.
I guess if you don't get tested randomly, your body fat can go down, you can bulk up, etc, with suspicious success. Has Povetkin
ever been randomly tested before?
He should have just said something like taking blood makes him weak, he is superstitious, afraid of needles, and not agreed to random testing so close to the fight, and he would be fine.
I hope the fight goes on, and Wilder beats the piss out of him. For punishment, make it so the belt is not on the line, and Povetkin forfeits his entire purse to Wilder, win or lose. See how bad he wants to fight.
