I wouldn't use Kirkland when referring to Spence, ever. Two totally different situations and potentials.
Also, why the hesitation? GGG and Kovalev were sure things after their first HBO appearances and this kid isn't?

Spence looks to have the tools. I hope they match him tough from here on out. It'll stop him from relying on his power too much.
Spence can box beautifully, but as you said he's overly reliant on his power. Spence hasn't devised a way to box and use his power to augment it.
The truth is he won't need to in the short term. But if he has the ambition his talents merit, then he and his team will have to come up with something.

WTF? lol Wow, maybe its just me, but what you just said would make more sense if you didn't try to sound so intelligent. :maybe:

Just because someone has power and gets knock outs, doesn't mean they rely solely on their power. He boxes very good, he has a body attack probably second to none, and won't have to come up with anything new as far as I can see. He needs better competition to test the skills he has, but until then would be a fool to make changes in his style in any way. He may need to tighten up his defense against the elite, but no one even knows that just yet.

You say Spence would be a fool to change his style in any way. Then in the very next sentence you say he should tighten up his defence.
Maybe you have a problem understanding me, because I don't contradict myself from one minute to the next!

Errol, please don't "tighten" you defense and become another boring boxer like Ward or Mayweather.

Any Top Welterweight would be better suited to fight him now while he's got less experience if they really think he's the next force in the division. I'm still not sold he is. I know everybody has already anointed him the 2nd coming, but he's gotta show me a little more first. He's definitely got a lot of talent though.

Brook is a prime example of someone who doesn't have the ambition of his talent.

Spence pretty much banged out his last three opponents. To be fair he tried to box van Heerden but when boxing him didn't yield a knock down (let alone a knockout) Spence got frustrated and got rid of him.
Spence wasn't able to create the opportunities he needed through boxing. Which is in stark contrast to Keith Thurman who boxes his opponent and looks for\creates knockout opportunities.
But he does this using his power to set up the chance as oppose to using his power to steamroller an opponent.
The latter won't be as effective against durable fighters. But the former will be as you're applying your power more effectively.
Spence has to learn to incorporate his power into his boxing skill set if he ever want to reach the heights his talents deserve.

AND, I said no one even knows that even yet. His defense may be fine the way it is. Read it all and you won't be confused.
Spence's body attack sets up his knockouts, and although he seems to have all the tools in addition to being a southpaw. What I am saying is that even right now I wouldn't bet against him vs ANY welter. Why change? Thurman wanted no part of him. Neither did Khan, Garcia, porter, etc. All know he is a huge risk. Watch Brook move up to avoid him.

You act like some of Spence's recent opponents could fight back. Or had the power to hurt him.
His bodyshots do wear an opponent down, but as usual you're missing the point.
The point being what happens when he meets a fighter who doesn't immediately fold to his power and can also bang a bit?

Spence's defence may be fine the way it is, but you said he should tighten it up.

The problem with you is, you can't adopt a position and stick to it. You're all over the place, mate.

Tim Bradley is a DUCKER. He'll likely NEVER fight Errol Spence. He's ducked Keith Thurman for years. Thurman dominated and knocked out Diego Chaves and didn't have a mark on him. Bradley couldn't beat Chaves and looked like he'd been mugged after the fight. Thurman also tried to get deserved fights with Pacquiao, Khan, Maidana, and Floyd prior to Floyd's selection of Andre Berto as a much more beatable opponent. Thurman beat Guerrero by a 14-point wider aggregate score than Floyd beat him - and beat Guerrero by a much wider margin than Garcia beat him also...

There are 4 Welterweight who can only get fights with each other among the top 147-pounders: Brook, Thurman, Spence, and Porter. There are 5 Welterweights who have resisted fighting any of them: Bradley, Khan, Pacquiao, Garcia, and Maidana... Pacquiao was expected to fight Terence Crawford, but as I suspected he'd do, he turned the dangerous switch hitter down to fight Tim for the 3rd time.

Tim Bradley has a deeper resume that every other active Welterweight combined, but he's a ducker?

Nobody believes the draw in the Bradley-Chaves fight was legit. Bradley won that fight.

Bradley is a ducker? He ducked Thurman? First I have heard of that. I know of no boxer Bradley has ducked. Being with TR making fights with a Haymon fighter is not all that easy, especially with the lawsuit going on. Thurman, by the way, was in a real fight with Chavez before the stoppage, not a walk in the park. Thurman was nearly taken out by a body shot from the light hitting Collazo, so its easy to understand why he wanted no part of Spence, who is a much more vicious body puncher than Collazo. Thurman had a good win vs Guerrero, but after Floyd beat him, the value of a win over him went way down. He is now pretty much known as a gate keeper.

Yeah??? Well Thurman FLATTENED Chaves and left no doubt... Then Bradley wouldn't fight him, taking on Chaves and Vargas instead.

I've never heard any talks between Thurman and Bradley whatsoever. Nobody turned down anybody there because there were never any talks between their people for them to fight. Thurman had a lot of difficulty with Chaves as well as I recall, but yes he did finish him. Bradley's never been a big KO puncher. I've only seen him stop two top rated opponents Casamayor and Rios, and they were both either shot or unprepared. This isn't to say Bradley isn't a very good fighter, he most definitely is, but he's not a big puncher. Some guys just ain't big punches, but they're still effective.

I don't know who would win between Thurman and Bradley, but it wouldn't be an easy time for either guy.

"Jeff Horn".

Most of you will bag this. But remember you read it here. Horn would match up solidly against anybody in the welterweight division. He especially has no fear of Southpaws.

Ain't none of yinz mentioned Vasquez. He'd pound Spence. Vasquez would destroy Algerie.
That S African white boob that Spence beat wasn't nothin special. In fact that guy sucked

I did on a different thread. It would be a good fight, but I think would turn out like their 2 amateur fights, with Spence winning a fairly close fight. He wouldn't pound Spence.

Horn looks pretty basic to me; I don't think he'd be able to hang against the top guys in the division.

supposedly brook is ready to sign an ibf/wbo unification fight in england vs jesse vargas,
and i'm pretty sure bradley will get the winner of that fight later in the year if khan isn't
ready. khan also claims he wants to avenge his demolition by garcia so brook probably
shouldn't hold his breath waiting for khan, who might want a setup fight back at welter.
pacman just won his senate seat and probably won't come out for anybody but mayweather,
unless it's a big bon voyage fight in the philippines or macao against a cherry picked
opponent that he could train at home for. mayweather is not picking spence for his 50th.
marquez could reappear for the right opportunity (cotto) but that is definitely not spence.
thurman-porter should be a good scrap if it finally comes off next month. i imagine the
best opponent spence can find before the end of the year will be someone in the berto,
peterson, guerrero range.
