Considering you have given me 8 of those yes you do care. You're like a little girl who keeps claiming she doesn't have a crush on her little boyfriend. Give me another one and go for #9.
Yes your little Arreola is a horrible opponent.

Arreola is a lucky guy! For me he is a very sympathy guy.
2013 titleshot = lost
2014 titleshot = lost
Then over Fighter like Harper, Kassi, Kauffmann come next titleshot. Boxing is sometimes a strange thing.
Biggest weapon is his typically stretched forward right hand....but Height & Reach is on the other corner.
I think when Arreola lost he quits boxing.
Chris showed a long time in his career good chin...but since Stiverne Days chin is not so granite than thought.
And now this 6 feet 7 guy with high knockout ratio comes along...Oh Baby....
I hope Chris comes NOT over 240lbs...of course under 240 he still looks as he never seen a gymn from inside...but it's still important not to carry much overweight around.
Yes..this Fight is no 5-Star Fight...but July 16thn is on my list.

Nop, Wilder and his team spread in the media that Povetkin tested positive, which is a massive lie and they should be punished for that. Takam assumed it was true and looked back at his own fight because of that and remembered that he had a worser stamina. Somehow he simply really got a worser stamina, got nothing to do with drugs or whatever. You could have seen what he and Parker looked like after7 rounds, Whyte and Joshua still look better after 7 rounds. It's simple as that.Killer Blow wrote:Takam and others were also suspicious of him.asdfjkl wrote:Only Wilder did, as an excuse to avoid fighting him. It took Povetkin several years to achieve that strength and it wasn't like he's that muscled now, or that weak at the time.Killer Blow wrote:
Povetkin has always been a great boxer, but his power significantly improved after the Klitschko fight. Other heavyweights publicly accused him of doping, including one of his opponents.

I agree with Tony1244 on this one.
It's obvious in this thread who actually understands how this sport works outside the ring & who doesn't have a bloody clue.
The vast majority of those who are bellyaching about the choice of opponent & who are making unrealistic suggestions regarding who should have been chosen instead of Arreola, just don't get it.
No, Arreola isn't a very good choice. In fact, he's a pretty shitty choice actually.
But, given the circumstances, he fits the bill.
Of the realistic choices named by Dibella, I'd have preferred Washington as he's coming off of a draw & a victory vs two world class heavies in Mansour & Chambers. But, for whatever reasons, a deal couldn't be worked out. So, that left Arreola.
Say what you will about Wilder, but at least he's staying active. It wasn't his fault that Povetkin pissed hot for PEDs & screwed everything up. But, rather than sulk about it & wait around to see what actions the WBC take on the matter, Wilder & his people decided to be proactive & stay busy rather than wasting an entire training camp. So, they put this Arreola fight together.
No, it's not a bout that I'm particularly excited about seeing, but I'd much rather tune in & watch it rather than having no fight to watch at all. And, I'm sure that after he's dealt with Arreola he'll arrange to fight a much more formidable opponent in the fall.

So, let me ask you then, if you're actually convinced that individuals fighting for a heavyweight championship in this day & age are "taking dives", then why are you a fan of the sport?
I know I wouldn't be.
How can you proclaim that "boxing_rocks" & yet suspect it's integrity so much?

A shot for a belt (with all related career opportunities) comes ones in a lifetime...if you are lucky and well managed. So 99% of the boxers takes it very seriously.
And in HW - every limited boxer has a puncher chance...

I don't understand this new Cheater Sympathy for cheating boxers recently. I heard it over the last weekend with Lampley coming to Vargas's defense blaming Mexican meat for Vargas's failed test. Now Povetkin is completely innocent right? It's all Wilder's fault and he sabotaged the results by donning some Tom Cruise Mission Impossible plan to break in to the lab and replace the sample with a dirty one?asdfjkl wrote:Wrong, all parties except Povetkin are wrong actually.caldo2025 wrote:Way to harsh of a reaction for both guys in this forum. Wilder had a big fight yanked from him late so he had to turn that into a "stay busy" fight" so why not go with a guy that has notoriety and a good amount of followers. I know Arreola is limited but i've watched him for years and i find him entertaining. What do people expect? Wilder to schedule a fight with Ortiz or Joshua and train for them for 3 weeks? No promotional marketing? It's silly.
Arreola's poured his heart out in the ring for years and come a long way with limited ability. I don't care about the failed tests, the guys put it on the line for years and come short. I'd much see a guy like him get a shot then some unknown young punk that hasn't shed a drop of blood in the ring yet.
Go easy here people. The only one to blame for this is Povetkin.
Povetkin followed all the rules that have been written. Wada and Vada both don't know details about meldonium, but still put it on their illegal substances list and next to that, it hasn't even been proved that it has any positive results on athletes at all and they don't even know how long it takes to completely leave the body. That's why retards write that Povetkin used illegal substances, but in fact he stopped as soon as it became illegal. Actually, if he wanted to use meldonium, he simply accepted the fight in januari and was allowed to have well over 200 times as much meldonium in his body as he actually had. The WBC somehow wants Wada and Vada for odd reasons, probably because they don't have a clue what they are doing as well and Wilder and his team will get sued for blackmailing Povetkin time on time again saying Povetkin is a cheater, while he continually proves and proved he isn't, unlike Wilder btw. Meanwhile Wilder is going to fight someone who clearly did use illegal substances quite recently, a guy that actually did cheat, but appearantly that's not a problem.
In short, it barely matters what party involved you name, all of them can be blamed, except Povetkin.
Give me a break. Athletes are responsible for what they put in their body. I don't care how it got there. Povetkin's sample was dirty. He blew his chance at the belt and the opportunity for us to see an entertaining fight. Stop making excuses for the boxers

If you cheat, then you cheat, but fact is, Povetkin didn't cheat but got accused of it wrongly, that's what's going on and you're just another guy falling for the accusations that aren't true.caldo2025 wrote:I don't understand this new Cheater Sympathy for cheating boxers recently. The sad thing is, that the truth will probably never be posted again, or after such a long time that nobody cares any more. That's the whole silly point. Also, what are Wilder's testresults against Szpilka? I still haven't seen them.
