I'm a brook fan. It's a stupid fight. He won't have the power to keep Golovkin off him.

Kells strength is counter and timing. That's what give him the power to stop fighters in their tracks. I don't think that will carry to middleweight against Golovkin especially.

Stupid fight when there are so many 'names' at WW. He should be looking at travelling to the USA and looking to unify the division. He IS that good.

One of his selling points is the 'unbeaten' tag. If he gets bullied and loses (he will) then that invincibility is gone and he gets even further down the line.

Shocking fight.

Don't think he is a fraud I think they cocked up the negotiations thinking they were the big players who could stall and make demands, but in reality GGG's camp are used to getting the run around so don't mess about with these types of things and Hearn does this for a living and had other options on the table. Golovkins manager pretty much said this was the case he even said he doesn't think Jr was ducking, they were just plain stupid (if the reports are correct) that's all.

Brook keeps his belts win or lose, great exposure, nice few quid and shows he's got the stones to get in with ggg. Fair play to him. Steps up in weight, nowt to lose apart from the 0. Fair play to him

How to end a career. So so unnecessary. I can only think Eddie Hearn is feeling the pressure. Brook should not be partaking in this fight. Simply ridiculous. He is just not big enough.

Really? Why would it be fight of the year. It's going to be a one sided beating.
As in the biggest fight of the year.

Some beatings end the career as a top level performer. Look at Meldrick Taylor for example

My thoughts exactly.

So many big names in his own division, we have waited years for him to step up to the challlenge and prove himself. So much time has passed and we are still waiting.

Now he is going up 2 divisions to get a pasting of Golovkin? Brooks an idiot, Hearn an even bigger one!

There should be less weight classes in boxing ao more of these fights can happen. Brook has home advantage but don't think that will be enough

When (and at what price) would tickets for this go on sale?

Never been to live boxing, but might make an effort to go out for this one to get a flavour of the action.

Can't blame Brook for taking this fight.

With the top welter weights under Haymon he's found it hard to get a big name and Injurys didn't help.
He was close to the Vargas fight but the money wasn't the best and the split may not of ended in his favour.
This in turn put Hearn under pressure as he doesn't want to lose Kell to Haymon and he's desperate to get Kell a big money fight.
Eubanks got offered the deal of a lifetime yet got greedy thinking they were the A side. Golovkin unable to unify or get the megafight he craves. Huge payday for him against a guy he should beat.

Brook- Wanted a huge fight. Unable to get it at his own weight for reasons out of his control. Well done for putting your 0 on the line.

Hearn- Well done for not tolerating the Eubank circus and getting Brook the huge fight he deserves.

Eubanks- coming close to freezing yourself out with UK based promoters. Money talks but unless it's BJS or GGG in the other corner, promoters will think why bother with the hassle.

Vargas- Feel sorry for him. Was looking at a huge payday and a unification.

Golovkin- got to take any big fight he can. Not his fault that BJS and Canelo don't fancy it and Eubanks couldn't negotiate a water sale with someone dying of thirst.

Travelling to the USA doesn't guarantee you a fight. The "names" are with Haymon (Thurman, Garcia, Khan and Spence) and have shown no interest in fighting him.

Brook has one notable win and it was not overwhelming and that was at welterweight so he MAY be overrated at his own class, certainly still unproven. Then he is not just jumping two weights but to take on one of, if not the hardest ever puncher at that weight (certainly arguably).

Crazy fight and cannot believe people on a boxing forum are giving him any chance. Social media I expect, bunch of casuals, but on a boxing forum?!

I thinking of betting big as this is a guaranteed win for GGG.

£10k gets me £11500 back on bet365 early odds. Not many places you can make that overnight.

You may well be able to afford to lose that amount of money with no pain felt but please be cautious if that is not the case. I agree with your assessment of the fight but things can happen that are unforeseen. Also, perhaps more dangerously, when you risk that kind of money and win, you'll be more likely to do it again in the future. You won't always win.

Got to agree, i cant believe he made this fight in 24 hours.

If true, with more time to mull it over Kell may have wisened up and backed away from what is certain to be a painful loss. This is no Khan v Alvarez where the smaller guy had a chance at outboxing the bigger, better man, Brook aint outboxing Golovkin, he will be backed up, beaten up and taken out 'mexican style'. If he makes it past the sixth it will be a massive victory for him!

This is my take.

1. Brook thinks he can win the fight.
2. He will be earning big money.
3. It will raise his profile.
4. Win lose or draw, he will still be the IBF Welterweight Champion.
5. He craved a big fight and he has one.
6. If he wins, the Canelo fight awaits.

With regards to the 24 hours thing. I've spoken to someone close and my understanding is Brook had expressed an interest. The deal was almost done for Eubank. That didn't happen. Brook took the deal that was already on the table.

Has to be one of the biggest risks ever by a British fighter.

Got to wonder, if Kell caved in and said yes because this is the only big payday with home advantage for a fighter who feels the strain of making welterweight.

Hope he can summon a monumental effort and make it a memorable fight that will increase his marketability enough to get something like an Amir Khan fight afterward.

If he gets blasted out easily it will be a shame that this is the fight he'll be remembered for.

agreed, I'm seeing lots of folk claiming this is a no-lose fight for kell - built in excuse/reason for losing, title not on the line, but i don't see it like that. if he puts in an impressive, valiant losing effort, sure, but i can only see him getting battered and nailed to the mat. extended break from the ring whilst recovering, another no hoper in his come back fight, after which, the only significant win in his career will have been 3 years prior. big respect to brook for taking it, but unless he's thinking cash-out ( i don't believe he is ), this is going to be a disaster

Looks like quite a safe bet that, a touch riskierbut very attractive reward is near even money for a KO inside first 6 rounds.

I feel the same way, it seems a very odd career move, and given that GGG will be getting paid very well to come over, there's no way he's going to be earning cash out kind of money.
