Boxrec's annual awards

Post by AntonS »

Focusing on our judges & referees which was the best each year to kick off'
My proposal:-
1. We open nominations on November 1 & close on December 31.
2. We then list top 10 nominations by way of poll in this forum & close voting January 31 & declare the outcome asap.

Suggestions/Opinions are more than welcome :D

Too hard the best ref is the one you never notice now if you were picking the worst ref that is a different story

As far as refs go I like Matt Ropis, he knows the fight's not about him and likes to keep the fight going and let the fighters try and fight their way out, as far as judges go, unfortunately one of our best, Ben Keilty, has been snapped up by one of the big orgs. as an official. I know there are other top notch refs and judges out there but, as already mentioned, the best ones go unnoticed as that's part of the nature of doing a good job.

What happened to Matty? Haven't heard from him nor has he been officiating since July last year, when he got on the wrong side of Board's member Malcolm McGuinness

I think Des used his fingers so he knew exactly who was in front at any stage of the round. He also scored knockdowns properly.

I know Des passed away. Years ago in another forum he explained the method he uses when judging. You mentioned him, so I thought I'd let you know. End of story.

If you're going to say Boxrecs annual awards and only have refs in there you might want to state "reffs".

I do think it's a good idea to add awards to the forums posters. Perhaps

- best poster
- most knowledge poster
- worst poster (e.g asdfjkl)
- craziest poster (e.g Kalan)

Things like that would be good to add to the awardSS
