Was Hatton a big name selling tickts when Warren signed him or was he just a good prospect fighting on undercards and bleeding on every one? a four or six round fighter with potential yes but not an instant star like Khan or Hamed say. But is was Warren who invested tens of thousands in him for no reward. Hatton never paid warren a penny in management money so it was not about purely money. Wouldn't you like 25% of him?
It was FW and SN who helped turn him into the star he is today. He didn't sell tickets when he started and there was no indication he would reach the heights he has so that is a dumb comment.

Exactly. Ricky was FW's golden goose. If Ricky finally twigs that FW is making a fortune from Ricky then why shouldn't he try for a bigger cut himself? Ricky also got FW out of the shit by agreeing to fight Vilches at short notice just because ticket sales for the Calzaghe fight were slow (think Joe eventually pulled out anyway).

he knew he was fighting in June but supposedly against Mitchell.
also it was supposed to be a double header with Calzaghe v Johnson .
I know at was at the friggin press conference in Baker street.
Cazlaghe got injured Mitchell never got signed and Hatton took on vilches at short notice as the show was going tits up.

I've been to see Hatton fight twice at the MEN, and it must have been a strange coincidence then that the entire crowd went fornicating mental when Hatton entered the ring? The same crowd who were virtually non existent/silent during the undercard?
I don't see how anyone can prove otherwise, it's not like people write which fighter they are coming to see on their ticket stub when they hand it in. Even if other fighters took ticket allocations to sell, that doesn't mean that the people they sold them to weren't turning up to see Hatton.

With regard to Witter, I think Ingle saw Pinto as a potential banana skin, and thought Warren was trying to get rid of Witter. The history with Warren and Ingle wasn't exactly great, I remember hearing Ingle moaning his head off at ringside at the Hatton v Pendleton bout about how Junior wasn't getting the opportunities. Ingle saw that Pinto might be a danger, and saw the opportunity for his fighter to get the EBU belt instead, and made a decision. Maybe Witter was injured, I just don't know, but I suspect it was a tactical decision.
As for Witter's fight with Judah, both points of view are right.
1 Yes, Witter was given a nightmare assignment against a guy who was rated as a future great with having so little time to prepare, it was a poisoned chalice, and I cannot see that at the same point in his career, Hatton would have relished 9 days preparation to face Judah.
2 Yes Witter DID stink the joint out. I'm sure he wasn't forced at gunpoint to take the fight, and it would probably have been better not to turn up that put on a display that effectively prevented him getting on showtime for the next few years.
Warren obviously saw something marketable in Hatton early on, otherwise he wouldn't have invested all that money in making him a big star, something he obviously didn't see in Witter, rightly or wrongly, he chose to back the guy he thought had the most potential.

I don't want to get involved too heavily in this debate but I'm a fan of Ricky who has been becoming increasingly frustrating with how his career seems to be developing. I've always given Ricky the benefit of the doubt in the past and he comes comes across very well in interviews. I think Ricky was right to fight Maussa, it was a great opportunity to take the WBA title from arguably the poorest top ten fighter in the division. However, after the fight, I thought it was a complete joke when Ricky started saying how he is now entitled to a soft fight because he has just fought for two world titles consecutively.
This made me question Rickys true ambitions. Pedersen, Vilches, Stewart, Oliveira in a row. Then he fights Tszyu (I give him massive credit for that) and then Maussa who was never much better (if at all) than the four opponents prior to Tszyu. To then claim to be entitled to a soft opponent is just laughable.
I'm interested in seeing who his next opponent will be but it seems to me that apart from taking on Tszyu, Ricky appears to want to do things as easily as possible. This is smart and it will make him more money and keep his unbeaten record intact, however he needs to step it up if he wants to be remembered as a great. All this talk of his camp trying to get a fight with Baldomir, I hated when I heard it. I felt as though Ricky was trying to steal the Welterweight titles. Sure somebody has to fight him (Baldomir) but Ricky is already an established name and doesn't need to be fighting for alphabet titles to make his name when everybody knows who his real challengers are.
Why isn't he calling out Castillo, Cotto or Mayweather? I'd give him more respect for taking on Witter than fighting Baldomir - in fact I think a fight with Witter would be a bigger ticket seller (despite Witter having what seemed like less than a hundred fans behind him for the Lynes fight). I haven't heard anything about Ricky fighting Castillo (but lots about the washed up Gatti).
The last time I heard Cotto mentioned was on a Sky show last year where he was interviewed and said how he would love to fight Ricky. When asked about this fight Ricky said "you're not the one who would have to fight him" and then mumbled something about "maybe further down the line", hardly words of a hungry fighter (excuse the pun). At this time Cotto was already making big waves in the States but ricky wasn't interested.
Now (although not reading it myself), I'm hearing Ricky is saying he's not ready for Mayweather until a couple more fights? Come on Ricky, get your act together and stop trying to fool people. Even if he lost to Mayweather, it's not the end of the world, there are still other challenges. A spirited show against him full of heart would make him a much bigger name in the States than if he keeps picking opponents he's heavily favoured to beat.
