-young and charismatic
-Mexican American (super popular ethnicity in boxing)
-is coming off a win against an undefeated golden gloves winner saddam Ali and an exciting fight with p4p super star tim Bradley.
-a belt holder in brook's division . Unification bouts of major sanctioning bodies are automatically gonna generate interest.
-has a well known promoter on top rank and Bob arum.
Ggg may be a devastating puncher but people remember how horrible of a mismatch khan vs Canelo was. Besides, ggg had 150k ppv buys, what proof do you have people on the UK would be interested?
Even if you're absolutely right, this just proves casual fans are killing the sport.

Re: Canelo Being Treated Unfair Absolutely
Are you forgetting that the fight is in England and the main revenue source is Brits? Who knows Vargas over there? Who cares about Mexicans on that side of the ocean? Nobody cares about promoters in general and Arum specifically. Besides, there is a David vs Goliath theme when Golovkin is involved.Cygnus475 wrote:I have doubts about that. Re: Canelo Being Treated Unfair Absolutely
^ ^ Casual fans kill nothing! We need them and it a part of the cross over. Gennady is a great attraction on the cross over. What's killing boxing I well know about. But....it's So obvious.
Re: Canelo Being Treated Unfair Absolutely
So now it's a "good thing" that:
-belts are meaningless
-mandatories are ignored
-contracts aren't respected and tossed aside
-people change weight classes like a teenage girl
But hey, it's all good. Who gives a damn if its elite fighter vs cab driver or giant vs midget??? The best aren't fighting the best, but it brings in MONEY, global exposure, excitement, and the casual fans filling the seats!

So, how's life as a boxing promoter working out for you, care for a help package to be dropped in for you, you would obviously must be hungry, what with you losing money hand over fist and all!?Cygnus475 wrote:I have doubts about that. Nothing mean! : ) Only....you can't possibly know this Sport too HOT!
You said. Now the belts are meaningless. They are not! It's bad how things are thinning, YES!
Mandatories are ignored? I don't have privy there. You have privy there?? Probably you are talking about certain case situations.
Contracts tossed aside?? Idk about that! Me think, you are being extreme with your call on that one.
Weights? Hey that's the boxers call! Everyone knows the lower you can be weight, the better your advantage! I've had fights, too. Doesn't hurt the Sport!
Elite vs cab drivers? You know, I did a little study recently on the great Duran's career. You know, he did that in spots! I mean, debut or 2-1-0 record when he already is magnificent. At end of my study I was left saying to myself, Duran fought everyone plus Duran fought Anyone, too!
It's only the truly elite who are gonna bring the Cross over. Maybe we mean two different things when we say, "casual".
The best matches right now: Heavyweight has hord of nice fights can be made [Is Fury the weakest of the Elite! I LOVE who Joseph Parker is as a individual!][Joshua is "interesting!"][you and me's we lucky if we can get contract on Charles Martin believe me! Ha, ha!].
Your first comments talking "Jessie Vargas"/a.s.o./Saddam Ali a.s.o., ....ah..these guys are, "no entries" next to a 'name' such as Gennady Golovkin! I mean, they are budding- yes. But that's all! SURE their own charges have huge pride in their guys....maybe they get headlines in their hometowns. I love boxing. I will love to study their records! Though, just as much I will enjoy to again look at Ron Stander!
You bring in clouds!
But.....if you like I like talk to you at PM. I mean, I know this SPORT! And, I could position better! Who are you? You might be someone! I mean, just because you have funny ideas about the boxing doesn't mean we can't TALK...I'll fix yah pretty good!
Do you know Rufus here? He is 0-1-0 and was KO'd (a la' Shavers-Quarry; Marvis-Larry! Marvis-James Broad! Fireman Jim vs Jack!) but....the loss was to someone quite significant. He is from Ohio and is here at BoxRec forum. Age: 31. He is a 'E' class level. I support him to gain second fight.

Re: Canelo Being Treated Unfair Absolutely
Gennady Golovkin Vs Kell Brook is ON! Do you think this is dangerous fight? It is! Brook a huge welterweight they are saying! Guy has balls. He hasn't a faulted record such as what Amir brought. But time will tell now! History shows a 147 can move to 160 and have great success. GGG is huge right now but.....is he truly truly tested? Brook his top talent yet, hey?

Re: Canelo Being Treated Unfair Absolutely
For a fighter that has been campaigning as a professional for almost twelve years, the only opponent that Kell Brook has ever faced throughout his entire career that could possibly be considered as a legitimate top-tier world-class fighter (at the time of their contest) was Shawn Porter.allInmoderationAIM wrote:Gennady Golovkin Vs Kell Brook is ON! Interestingly, the pundits for the two main TV networks that cover boxing in the UK (Sky & Box-Nation) both believed that the American was deprived of a much deserved decision victory over Brook in that fight.
For sure, the result of that bout could have gone either way, so it was clearly no robbery, but it is kind of telling that ‘The Special One’ has so-far failed to justify his moniker because he hasn't managed to score a single clear-cut victory over any universally-regarded top-ten world-class opponent.
Therefore, on paper, this seems to be a mismatch. Golovkin could either win inside five rounds or two rounds, depending on whether or not he intends to deliver a crowd-pleasing “big drama show” type performance. The fight will only last as long as GGG wants it to.
Re: Canelo Being Treated Unfair Absolutely
^exactly. It's a mismatch because not only is brook a welterweight, he only has one credible win over a world class fighter (a dubious decision many people disagreed with).
But people had the nerve to say "what's the difference between this fight and leanard moving up to fight ggg?"
