LSC n Quigg both 50/50 at the time they made, fought both away from home, both unbeaten, Carl must be in the mix

Of course, Kell will sweep it, it he beats GGG. But similarly, and as likely, I will be a legend amongst my mates if I pull Penelope Cruz cos I outwitted Javier Barbem on boxing Knowledge.

Hell if anything Frampton was a slight underdog against Santa Cruz. It seemed to be at least 2 to 1 against him in picks I saw from fans going into the fight.

He and Quigg were basically 50/50 though yes.

Frampton seems to rise to the level of his competition I notice. He got knocked down in a few fights in a row when he was fighting uninspiring opposition, but then he fights the likes of Santa Cruz and Quigg, and fights a marvelous fight and makes few mistakes. He's definitely a fighter that benefits from fighting top competition. I'd think a fight between him and Lee Selby would go over pretty well in the U.K. that'd be fun to see, and if they could get it signed by the end of the year it would be an awesome cap to Frampton's year

I'll add that if Kovalev beats Ward I think he'd get plenty of votes. Frampton has done very well, but LSC and Quigg aren't P4P elite like Ward and Pac. Thurman would also be in the mix he if added a win over Garcia, and I imagine that Brook upsetting GGG would earn him ample support.

If Kovalev beats Ward I think he'd have a strong case over Frampton, unless Carl beats someone like Selby or Russell. Some good contenders there but if Brook done the impossible and managed to beat GGG you'd have to give him it just for that win alone.

Frampton so far.

Crawford not far behind, Gonzales goes close if he beats Cuadras.

Also Krusher and Ward winner goes up there.

I'd also have Shane trainer of the year so far.

I think Crawford is well behind. The Postol win is about equal to the Quigg win for Frampton, but then his other this year was a gimme over Hank Lundy. Unless he gets a hell of a 3rd win before the year ends he's not even in the conversation this year IMO.

The Krusher vs Ward winner definitely raises their profile big, and could potentially become the frontrunner for Fighter of the Year especially if they win impressively.

As someone mentioned earlier, with Crawford I think it comes down to whether he gets and beats Pac this year. The win over Postol was nice, and having beaten Lundy in February he has a good chance of fighting thrice in 2016. If he can add a win over a P4P fighter like Manny he'd have a solid year on numbers (by today's standards for world class fighters) and an elite name that Frampton would unlikely be able to match.

If Frampton doesn't add another top win, someone like Selby or Russell, I also think the Kov-Ward will get more support for fighter of the year, assuming that fight actually happens. Again, they would have three fights and a win over an upper-tier P4P quality fighter superior to anyone on Frampton's resume (I know Ward hasn't been up to a whole lot, but I still consider him significantly better than Quigg and LSC).

Thinking about it more, I'd say Frampton is the frontrunner based on what's actually occured, but Kov-Ward being deep in the works (rather than just vaguely talked about like Pac-Craw) is going to make it tough for him to hold onto a clear edge.

Sorry I was talking about Crawford in the context of a Pac win on his record (I favour Pacman though to be honest).

Oh yeah now if Crawford beat Pac before the year was out that'd be a whole different story.

British fighter of the year no doubt to date. We'll see what happens globally in the next few months for fighter of the year. As said if kell beats GGG, all bets are off. (I had a dream that Kell was outfoxing GGG last night, but my 'tape' ran out at round 10 oddly... And I've never had a boxing dream that came true...)

According to Sky sports of course, Joshua will be the fighter of the year regardless. It will be an easy sell for Sky Sports droolers: "has ANYONE since Mike Tyson won the world title in such impressive fashion???" "When was the last time we had a world heavyweight champion in only 17 fights and ALL knockouts?!?? Even Tyson didn't achieve that!" "Not only has Joshua conquered the heavyweight world in record time he has also conquered the hearts of difficult to please UK sports fans with his humble personality and easygoing charm"
Etc etc
