Yes, but this time, because the spar was competitive, it revealed mistakes, especially from Brook, he is an excellent fighter on the attack, but it's when he comes out of his combination, his hands drop and he goes back in straight lines, he can't fight on the inside either, but he brilliant medium to long range, when working off his jab. Golokin will close Brook down and put him on the back foot, but Brook is a great finisher, if he hurts you, he will hit you with 3 or 4 before you recover, he will have to Hurt Golokin to win and Golokin has never been hurt before.Counter-puncher wrote:Sometimes, but i think not always....Anzi wrote:A ten second clip is enough to see a weakness or fault in a boxer.nitro5912 wrote:Wouldn't read anything into a 1 min clip
Brook/Smith sparring ?

Re: Brook/Smith sparring ?
yes, he did and that is very worrying, he did however he did come back to stop Sechenko, so his chin held out and Porter is very strong and he got through that, but Golokin hits harder then any other Middleweight And his chin is regarded as one of the best.ElJefe wrote:Didn't he get rocked by Senchenko? It might be good but I doubt it's granite.SAPFO wrote:What is Kels chin is made of granite?

Even people close to Kell have said he's got a good chin, but he's never been hit by anyone like GGG before.
Re: Brook/Smith sparring ?
Boxers, fighters and punchers have all come unstuck against Golokin and to be fair Brook is more talented then any of them, but Brook is a big welter who has walked through welters , but for Porter who was a Middleweight before, he will not have the size advantage anymore, nor the power advantage, so will need his jab to be at it's best.

Murray's more talented than Brook.Anzi wrote:Boxers, fighters and punchers have all come unstuck against Golokin and to be fair Brook is more talented then any of them, but Brook is a big welter who has walked through welters , but for Porter who was a Middleweight before, he will not have the size advantage anymore, nor the power advantage, so will need his jab to be at it's best.

Brook was wobbled by that non-puncher who humiliated Hatton. This will be a monumental collapse in the Canelo/Khan mould. Let the fight pass and think ahead to something interesting.

To say that "even" a group of people say something is to mean that a group of people who are most likely to not compliment had to do so but you have used this expression then said "the people close to Kell" when they are the very people who would bs and talk him up. Yeah what a bum, like me turning up for a last shift and the boss saying " you've done well and this is your last one, no matter what happens you'll be a multi millionaire after this shift.Rexob wrote:Horse wrote:Turning up for a payday.

Yeah, reaching the pinnacle of his sport as a world champion and retiring a multimillionaire swanning off into the sunset to live a great life in the Caribbean probably, terrible ending.

Maybe should have put in speech marks, but the point was, people close to him don't know how he's going to cope when he gets caught.tobyh5 wrote:To say that "even" a group of people say something is to mean that a group of people who are most likely to not compliment had to do so but you have used this expression then said "the people close to Kell" when they are the very people who would bs and talk him up. Re: Brook/Smith sparring ?
It's only sparring but I thought Kell looked clearly the better out of the two...if you watch the full clip Joe Gallagher doesn't look a happy man to me when the sparringsun finished... which says it all

I agree to an extent but do we know where he is in camp in this video, or how fit he is? That matters.Anzi wrote:A ten second clip is enough to see a weakness or fault in a boxer.nitro5912 wrote:Wouldn't read anything into a 1 min clip
Re: Brook/Smith sparring ?
True everything comes into it, they are sparring at Hattons gym in Manchester, they both should be fit enough, not long to their big fights and Brook looks in better shape then previous, videos on his build up.TheDarkDestroyer wrote:I agree to an extent but do we know where he is in camp in this video, or how fit he is? golovkin has never 'shown' that he has been hurt before, because no one who has clipped him has followed up. hopefully kell can clip him and land a couple more.Anzi wrote:Yes, but this time, because the spar was competitive, it revealed mistakes, especially from Brook, he is an excellent fighter on the attack, but it's when he comes out of his combination, his hands drop and he goes back in straight lines, he can't fight on the inside either, but he brilliant medium to long range, when working off his jab. Trust me, Golokin has a good chin, never been floored Am or Pro and he has fought punchers, but hopefully Brook can stun him enough to keep him off, whilst he uses his boxing skills, to get a decision, it is however a big ask.rhino222 wrote:golovkin has never 'shown' that he has been hurt before, because no one who has clipped him has followed up. hopefully kell can clip him and land a couple more.Anzi wrote:Yes, but this time, because the spar was competitive, it revealed mistakes, especially from Brook, he is an excellent fighter on the attack, but it's when he comes out of his combination, his hands drop and he goes back in straight lines, he can't fight on the inside either, but he brilliant medium to long range, when working off his jab. Golovkin does have a good chin. Speed is power and that is his biggest asset, the problem here though, is not if Golokin can take Brooks power, but if Brook can take Golokins power, you can't go in the rain and not get wet.Oiky wrote:Golovkin does have a good chin. nobody on this occasion said either that he was amazingly talented or skilled- more so than Murray, certainly, but then Murray is mediocre where talent is concerned.

Why Ricky's gym? Is Kell barred from Khan's?
Re: Brook/Smith sparring ?
I'd assume it's part of Brook's sparring preparation to have someone who is cutting off the ring and trying to push him back onto the ropes as that will definitely be the tactic GGG will employ, however, he didn't look great there.
I can't see anything other than an early to mid round stoppage for GGG. Probably by the left hook to the body whilst Brook is on the ropes.

Re: Brook/Smith sparring ?
I've been about as critical of Brook's career as anyone on here, it's been a disappointment but you can't say the lad has no skills. He reminds me sometimes of a mid-career De La Hoya with his stand up upper body movement style, and he has decent enough power and throws with venom. He is good to watch, he just hasn't been in the fights he should have been for the last four years.Horse wrote:What's so great about Brook's skills?
