Klitschko vs. Browne for the WBA title?

Post by Freedom2013 »

According to a couple of sources including ESPN Desportes, Klitschko-Brown will be sanctioned by the WBA for the world title, and Fury will become WBA "Champion in Recess"

If it happens that's still quite an intriguing fight.

A couple of sources you say?

The shortcut above tells no English only speaking person anything.

Where are the other sources you are claiming?

I thought Wlad's next opponent was going to be Fury, Joshua, Ortiz, and literally everyone else in the division. Well if it's Browne today, who is it going to be tomorrow? Also, I heard that Browne was fighting Oquendo. So now I have to choose which among a whole bevy of conflicting rumors to believe.

If Klitschko is even a shadow of his former self he should still beat Browne handily.

The HW scene is a clusterfuck.

I thought it was supposed to be so great once Wlad lost? Hey, at least we got Martin-Glazkov

It would have to be for the regular title.
To become a WBA super-champion the boxer has to hold the WBA belt plus one other, WBC, IBF or WBO.
The proposed Browne-Oquendo fight might be a problem for the WBA though- unless Oquendo foregoes his right to the contest.

That's not true. Drug cheat Sturm is currently holding a WBA Super SMW title without having any other title. Chudinov who had this belt before he was robbed, also didn't have other titles, and Sturm himself earlier owned a MW Super title and only it.

That is the criteria, as stated on the WBA website - read it for yourself:

I don't know anything about the Sturm situation.

Klitschko vs Browne is whatever, but Klitschko vs AJ is the far more desirable rumored matchup.

Most of their "super" champions don't own any other major titles:

WBA doesn't follow its own rules at all. They will have super, regular and interim champions when their 'super' champ isn't a unified champ, their regular champ is healthy and defending and their interim champ is fight nobodies in his back yard.

Bingo!

If fit, Oquendo contests the regular title in his next fight. That is chiselled in stone.

The WBA have already told Browne he is in the other corner and the pair have about another week to get that fight set.

Watch Oquendo accept step aside money secure in the knowledge that the court order guarantees he will eventually get his title shot and the payday that comes with it.

It may well prove to be a very attractive option for him. He'd be a fool not to listen to what they might have to offer.

Haha would be funny if everyone ducks Joshua. He would have to give up his paper title to become #1 mandatory for other belts.

Fury being stripped could be horrible news for him, strange how we might end job with Ortiz and Price as the only options...and Ortiz won't really be an option given his high risk low reward nature.
