Just because we now use an edited version of the song does not mean it should be used. If you can't see his point of view you're obviously blinded by your opinion of him or you see no problem with white/British supremacy in Australia.

No Mundine wants it changed to something that has no history of British/white supremacy. The fact they edited the song doesn't change its origin or original message. Why would you want our national anthem to be associated with that kind of song? Unless of course you agree with it. The point that he is making and it is a completely fair song is that the full version which is very easy to find, is certainly offensive and laced with either obvious or thinly veiled white/British supremely connotations. I really though oh no he's being a pudendum again, then I read the interview, after that I googled and I was appalled that advance Australia fair is our national anthem. Regardless of how the edited version doesn't make any of these references it's still a fact that original text is offensive, regardless of it being edited it is still from the same bigoted writer, written during the same oppressive times. It's a shame more of Australia can't see his valid point of view due to their opinion on him.

Now it's certainly not the most racist thing ever written but it's easy to see why the full version is in bad taste to our aboriginals and to a lesser degree Australians with no British background who them theirselves or their families have played a great part in making Australia a far greater country than the British likely ever envisioned. Its not hard to see why there may be a problem there unless you want to close your eyes and pretend that although we are not to blame(and this is always my big issue with a lot of movements against a white majority) references/edits/takes from a song that celebrates what Australia's first settlers did and their origin is not a good look.

I was born in Australia.

I don't understand why it's so hard for people to understand where some indigenous people are coming from. Perhaps, it'a like I said, white privilege. Mundine is a bit of a tool no doubt, but you guys all keep focusing on the lyrics of the anthem. It's not about that for some native blokes, it's about what it represents and reminds them of. You all think cause it's 2016 that everything is all hunky dory and everyone should "get over it & move on". That there is where the problems arise.
