Liam and Langford huge ticket sellers.

Between them they sold about 2k.

The others would of sold easily. The appetite for live boxing is huge down here.

Capacity for the motorpoint is about 4.5k.

Out of interest do you know how I'd be able to watch the international shows if I cancelled allegedly? I too agree that their domestic output is awful, but watch an awful lot of their overseas stuff
Get a Kodi box, approx £50 from Amazon. Subscribe to the video addon called SportsMania. Works out about £6 per month and you can see ALL the sporting events you're likely to care about. I was watching this way even before I cancelled my BN subscription this week, because BN's system is clunky as hell anywhere other than on the Sky platform. I kept my subscription because I wanted to support the cause. Even as recently as 2014/2015 the channel was reasonably relevant.

I've hung on for months to give Wrank Farren and his droogs a chance to steer the channel and the promotional setup in the right direction but I'm done now. Yet another of their core fans turned off. :brick:

I actually feel very sorry for Frank w@rren and everyone else concerned, he's just needs need the bad luck to stop. That was a terrific card they had put together but you can't account for an injury pull out, let alone 2.

Have to smirk at "essentially sold out". That's nearly as bad Adam Smith's "essentially unbeaten" tag for Ian Lewinson

No way does Frank want this to happen. It's cards like this happening that attracts the new subscribers.

He could have fought Monroe jnr or Rosa on the Canelo undercard but turned them down as they didn't "progress his career"

Not sure how fighting the chap he's scheduled to fight exactly progresses it either however.
Who do you think is at fault here? It's obvious that Saunders hasn't got much of a following and can't carry a show, as evidenced by the shite sales of the Lee fight and the Bursak fight. He needs a decent dance partner or his shows will just fall through again and again. All of this must leave both Wazza and Saunders tremendously out of pocket so why do they keep on doing it?

What it does do is show the likes of GGG, Eubank Jnr and Canelo that they're absolutely the A side and can low ball Saunders and Warren as much as possible: if they say no, screw them. Get fat and not sell any tickets. Do some ifilm interviews. Eventually they will run out of money and take the fight anyway, or get stripped. When he doesn't have the title anymore, he's done.

The business decisions make no sense at all. It's mental. I can't see any logic in any of it.

It's not necessarily a case of Wrrn and allegedly signing up the guys who can't sell fights. It's that the fighters in this stable do not have a voice. The only place you see them is hidden away on the channel. BJS can talk, even though he says 'listen' at the beginning of every sentence.
Tyson Fury draws in a lot of interest, but he has never been under FW's promotional umbrella. Just boxed a few times on the channel. Eubank Jr has star power but his opportunities are limited now because father and son can't be trusted.

FW went for a few decades as pretty much the only big time boxing promoter in the UK, so he could get away with his bad attitude, sign up fighters to long deals and rely on newspapers and tv networks to sell his fights. The problem arises when he owns the tv channel and there's a more reliable, trustworthy promoter out there who spends more time promoting his fighters than issuing lawsuits.

A couple of genuine questions for you:

1) Do you believe both boxers have got injured at the same time and it's just coincidental?

2) In terms of the appetite for live boxing, do you think it's driven by personalities or just by virtue of being on? The reason I ask is that I can't think of many bills that actually justify your statement. You got your unique events such as Calzaghe vs Kessler back in the day, but equally I remember attending a Cardiff promotion that had Calzaghe and Enzo on the bill (the latter against Delaney) and it wasn't even a sell-out at the ice rink (which from memory had a similar capacity).

No I believe there is another reason for the fight being moved away from ticket sales. I'd guess BJS related.

Because there hasn't been any big time boxing here for a while I expect the first few shows to sell out as long as the bill is ok. To be fair both bills have been decent standard.
Its a Shame we don't have a 10-12 seater arena as I feel Selby would sell that out down here.

I'm surprised no-one has floated the possibility that the injury was suffered by the scales when BJ stepped on them and this is the reason for the delay...

I think the issue is FW doesn't land enough of the big fights and he hasn't got a great stable at the highest tier. He needs household names who pull in viewers fighting on the channel to drive it forward.

You need guys like haye, fury, Eubank Jr, Khan as well as the good international names fighting on your channel.

Reality is the general public don't care about BJS unless he is fighting Eubank Jr and that's the biggest name they have in the stable.

At the moment matchroom are destroying allegedly, which is a real shame because the idea of the channel is fantastic and thy started with some fantastic can't miss domestic fights and they have some fantastic international fights like Loma v Walters but that doesn't pull in the casuals.

Who'd buy a ticket to a allegedly show these days? You don't know if:
  • If it's going to happen
  • Who is going to be on the show
  • What date it is going to be on
  • Where it is going to be
  • If it's going to sell enough tickets to happen
What kind of an entertainment option is that?

The last time he staged something with a big fight feel was that Excel show with Eubank BJS and Fury v Chisora.

It was on well late so people would have missed transport ( Fury was on at 1:15 from what I remember and I'm sure BJS Eubank was about midnight.)

Also people were p***ing all over the place because the venue was poor and bad toilet access.

I slag Hearn all the time but he is a good promoter no one can deny that.

We were at that and it was fornicating atrocious: not just the worst boxing event I ever went to but just one of the worst events I ever went to full stop. I swore I wouldn't buy another ticket for a Fury fight and then bought fornicating tickets for the Wlad rematch.

Never again.
