No one else thinks Ward can KO Kovalev, Chilemba showed how approachable Kovalev was, with a little more pop he would have put him on queer street.

I have money on Ward stopping Kovalev. I think he'll take him apart

I like Kovalev to stop Ward in a very competitive fight.

Wow, some comment on here... :o
Ward won't stop Kovalev unless it s a headbutt. How many fighters did he stop at the elite level.. Dawson being drained. Kovalev i think hits harder than anyone on Ward resume and is has good has some of the best Andre fought. SOG is not an active fighter so that ll be a factor in the fight. Like Andre Ward said : everyone has a plan until... getting hit by the Krusher. Kovalev by TKO... Ward will search a way out

Yeah I'm finding it hard to pick between the two but my gut feeling is that Kovalev is going to stop Ward which will be a hell of an accomplishment since Ward hasn't lost since he was 12 according to Hunter (he was correcting the people saying his last loss was when he was 13).

Kovalev to become the P4P no1. I'd really like to watch Kovalev-Chilemba again though. There's a version of it on youtube but the quality is terrible and at times you can't see the ring in full view. Its like someone just recorded their TV with their phone

I don't think the issue in this fight is Kovalevs power, or even Wards. It's all about Kovalevs chin. I think it's there for someone to crack and Wards precision might just be the difference.

I know it's not a popular view but it's just how I see it.

Kovalev's chin is pretty average, but I think it is still better than Ward's, and Ward's slapping can't hurt him. Of course, Andre can catch him off balance like others did and get an extra point, but I doubt that will help him much.

Green, Miranda, and Rodriguez have all shown more chin problems than Kov (e.g. Green badly hurt by a clubfighter, Miranda KTFO early by Bute, Rodriguez down and all over the place against Seals and Williams), yet Ward didn't come close to stopping any of them. He doesn''t have much power and pretty much never goes for the kill.

You're going to see the absolute best of Ward on fight night. Focused, ready and highly skilled. Kovalev is easy to hit and will be hit often.. Easy night for Ward ending in a stoppage.

Ya, you've already made promises like that only to be wildly wrong.

Besides, I doubt that even the best Ward would stop most top LHWs; he's just not a puncher and it's not his mindset to go for the kill.

Watching the Chilemba fight again; I'm somewhat swinging back towards Ward. Kovalev will need to be a lot better than he was against Chilemba to beat Ward. Chilemba is definietly more durable than Ward I believe but as skilled as he is (and he is a good counter punching 'boxer') - he's not as skilled as Ward.

It's a very intriguing matchup.

I think you're being a little harsh though Keith- I don't believe Kovalev is generally a very easy to hit fighter. He's more offensive than defensive minded but he's pretty thoughtful with it and is wary about punches coming back at him. He's not a face first, Provodnikov type of fighter.

The people saying Ward by stoppage are really saying they think Ward wins a shut out.
You then logically think that the dominance can lead to a stoppage.

BUT

Similar to Floyd, that thinking never plays out.
They both land several solid punches during a fight that hurts or stuns their opponents.
However, they never fight the way a fighter with their power has to fight to get a stoppage.

I think people are taking Kovalev's win over Hopkins too seriously.
Dawson also dominated Hopkins en route to a clear win.

The people who think Kovalev can outbox Ward are on crack.

I'm just hoping for a clean outcome. No bitching from either side.
