Most of them fight the exact same way. High guard, no head movement, struggle on the back foot, decent body work, only have a good first, last or middle six rounds.

There's plenty of better trainers in the UK who deserve more plaudits than he does.

It was a very good fight and he shown a lot of heart but Stephen Smith is simply not world class. Multiple fighters at the weight would beat him without issue.


There is nothing wrong with with being a good domestic European level fighter.

I'd put him at the Martin Murray fringe level. He's good and will usually be competitive but I just don't think he's got what it takes to beat the divisions top fighters.

He's fought three top ten fighters, and his results were a KTFO loss and two clear UD losses in which he was dropped. Hard for me to call a guy like that world class, although I do think he's a solid EBU level type.
