Officially Malik Scott is probably the best. Pretty much everyone agrees he should have won against Helenius, and if you count that it's not even close.

Intrestingly by Boxrec points Gerber and Sexton were also ranked higher (not that that's the best measure), and Chisora will be Whyte's highest ranked opponent. (I'm not claiming they're some perfect ranking, I just found that interesting).

You only have to look at Chisoras resume to see he isn't scared to face anyone (Fury x2 and Haye) and will even travel to face top guys in their backyards (Vitali, Helenius and Pulev).
Also couldn't argue with Chisora saying he wasn't offered enough to face Joshua, Chisoras had some big paydays and didn't want to undercut himself just for the privilege of facing Joshua on PPV.
Dillian taking £350k for that fight shocked me really, the storyline sold itself and Whyte did a magnificent job of playing the bad guy to AJs boring humble act. Especially when AJ picked up multi-millions for the show, thought he could have banked at least £500k and a cut of the PPV buys...
Delboy might play the clown, but beneath that I think hes a tad smarter than he cares to let on.

All that said, Whyte should win on Saturday either by decision or late stoppage. Chisoras only chance to win is put it all on the line and brawl with Whyte for the first 6 rounds to hopefully catch Whyte IMO.
I'm looking forward to this one...
Hello Wes,

Whyte taking 350k for the AJ fight was brilliant. It gained him untold exposure and has raised his subsequent purses.

He'd still just be an ex drug cheat toiling away with out that bout.

I'm a fan of both fighters but can't decide on a winner in this
I'm not sure my friend, Whyte got around 10% of AJS purse and did all the work in the build up. The storyline and rivalry from the old days was a 50/50 thing. I just think he was worth a bit more than he was paid, not all, but a little but more IMO.

Whyte has to be the smart money for this one, either way I think it will be a fun fight...

I would imagine that there are only 1 world champion at each weight too so no messing with these silver titles, regular, super etc etc. Also having only 1 world champ is easier for the general fan to keep track of.

If boxing is not careful it will lose ground and the promotors will soon swap over as they dont really give a shite anyway.

Trying to sell out boxing matches seems to be becoming harder depending on whos popular these days. So making up daft eye openers such as throwing cardboard tables will become the norm.

One thing for sure though this should be Chisora's last fight cause every one else has beaten him.
Whyte wouldn't even be Chisora's best win.
Who is then?
Chisora's best win is Malik Scott (35-0 at the time)...

He's got no chin. He got flattened by Wilder in a round and ran for 12 rounds against Ortiz. I'm not sure that's a particularly great win in hindsight.

On the other hand he's the only fight to take Ortiz 12 rounds :-P

Like I said though, despite the bad scoring Chisora definetly beat Helenius, and that's a far better win than Whyte, more on the level of beating Joshua.

Mr Wes

It's all relative.

He may have got 10% of AJ'sv purse but he got ten times more than his previous purses.

Plus he's now earning more than he would have done if he hadn't fought Joshua.

He made a wise decision

If Whyte loses he'll still have no wins above area level....in that case it will probably be easy to regard the Scott win as superior. I mean what basis would there be for ranking Whyte so highly? His one good round against overeager AJ? His great wins over Dave the punching bag and big obese Ian? Whyte needs this win for credibility more than Chisora does.....

Chisora deserved a 9-3/10-2 win over Helenius as well, but of course he was disgustingly robbed; that is his best performace IMO.

question was, who is Chisoras best win?
I believe it to be Scott, with Gerber and Sexton also up for consideration.
As stated in previous posts, Chisoras brave efforts in losses to Vitali and Helenius have to be considered aswell...

if somebody offered you 10 times your daily wage tomorrow and you arrived on the job and found out the bloke next to you was earning 10 times what you were earning again, for doing the same amount of work, you'd soon want a payrise.
Dillian should have been better advised and gotten a bigger piece of the pie in my opinion...

DelBoy is financially astute.

Invested his money wisely and makes a good living from investments away from boxing.

Although I see what you're getting at, Taansend makes a valid point.

At the end of the day, Whyte was a completely unknown, and wouldn't of made a fraction of that payday anywhere else. The reason he got what he did was because of who was paying him. At the end of the day, Joshua generates the revenue, not Whyte (hence why there's big money in all AJ's fights). No doubt Whyte played his part in the build up, which probably helped make record sales for a British Heavyweight title.

Whyte has in my opinion been quite smart, he's used the Joshua fight to not only put his name on the radar, he's gone on to essentially make himself a wholesale name. He's been active, followed the same route as Joshua with the British title, got himself fit and focussed. There's too much short game in this business, and he's being smart here and considering the bigger picture. His payday will come, and if he comes through Chisora with bells on, don't be surprised if he starts headlining a few shows.

That's pretty much it, mate.

Wes was focussing on the payment for ONE fight but Whyte gambled on either causing an upset or making a name for himself.

He took less upfront to gain more down the line.

Could he have got more for Joshua? We don't know for sure. But it's indisputable that his stock was raised by fighting Joshua.

Cue fight of the year candidate with multiple knockdowns on both sides.
