I'm not sure my friend, Whyte got around 10% of AJS purse and did all the work in the build up. The storyline and rivalry from the old days was a 50/50 thing. I just think he was worth a bit more than he was paid, not all, but a little but more IMO.
Whyte has to be the smart money for this one, either way I think it will be a fun fight...
Mr Wes
It's all relative.
He may have got 10% of AJ'sv purse but he got ten times more than his previous purses.
Plus he's now earning more than he would have done if he hadn't fought Joshua.
He made a wise decision
if somebody offered you 10 times your daily wage tomorrow and you arrived on the job and found out the bloke next to you was earning 10 times what you were earning again, for doing the same amount of work, you'd soon want a payrise.
Dillian should have been better advised and gotten a bigger piece of the pie in my opinion...
Although I see what you're getting at, Taansend makes a valid point.
At the end of the day, Whyte was a completely unknown, and wouldn't of made a fraction of that payday anywhere else. The reason he got what he did was because of who was paying him. At the end of the day, Joshua generates the revenue, not Whyte (hence why there's big money in all AJ's fights). No doubt Whyte played his part in the build up, which probably helped make record sales for a British Heavyweight title.
Whyte has in my opinion been quite smart, he's used the Joshua fight to not only put his name on the radar, he's gone on to essentially make himself a wholesale name. He's been active, followed the same route as Joshua with the British title, got himself fit and focussed. There's too much short game in this business, and he's being smart here and considering the bigger picture. His payday will come, and if he comes through Chisora with bells on, don't be surprised if he starts headlining a few shows.
