I don't understand how so many people had Takam winning that fight. It wasn't like Parker won by 10+ rounds, but definitely clear by 2-3 rounds. I always felt he was in complete control, and when Takam was finding any kind of momentum, he'd take his foot off the gas.

I mean the volume of people that think Takam won the fight makes me question my judgement, or maybe that's just people gunning for the underdog?

Two things to consider :

1/ Fights are hard to score. That's why even the qualified judges entrusted with scoring a fight rarely manage to agree on who won particular rounds, let alone who won the fight.

2/ When you are watching a fighter you really hope wins it is even harder to score a fight.

There is a argument for takam.. I went Parker by 2-3 I seem to remember .

I don't think it'll be a massive minority. Although I am looking forward to Joshua v Molina because I'm a Joshua fan and there's the 'Wilder comparison' element also.

However, as a contest, Parker and Ruiz will be a lot more interesting as a contest. That said, I personally think Parker will win a lot easier than people think.

The chances of Ruiz leaving New Zealand with a decision are not good. They don't fly you all the way over there to win. He will need to win clearly. He's not good enough.

The "clean punching" bit is obvious but the other three could be taken either way in a close fight.

It is. But equally interesting will be how much it assists him during the bout. Some fighters who have lost a lot of weight also lost some punch resistance in the process.

Don't sleep on Ruiz's speed - I think Ruiz and Parker have the fastest hands in the heavyweight division - it's hard to split them on speed.

Ruiz really slowed down a bit after 4 rounds and tried to steal rounds late quite often .

Things to note are how hard Ruiz got hit clean and didnt even
look like he was hurt. Would like to see Takam vs Ruiz!

Ruiz is a rock, and I can't see anyone stopping him any time soon. Parker soon realized that and tried to outwork him and at the same time respected Ruiz's power and hand speed.

Burger King offered $2 Whopper burgers to celebrate Joseph Parker becoming New Zealand's first heavyweight boxing champion of the world, and sold around 137,000 Whopper burgers between 11am and 5pm on Sunday.

Burger King changed their Papatoetoe restaurant logo to 'Parker King' to promote Saturday night's fight and the $2 Whopper burger promotion.
