He's been away before yeah. He's always been a nice bloke but who seems to attract the absolute divs of the area. When he was fighting he kept them at arm stage length mainly. Lots of hangers on.

When he was fighting he was labouring too. Seemed to get disillusioned with the amount of dough he didn't make from the game. The Ampofo fights were his only real earners I believe.

Eh? You're just reaffirming my point! I've been doing coke 20 odd years, and I can only think of less than a handful of occasions where I didn't drink before I did it. I have probably done coke 1000 times over the years. I'm on the wagon for January and I can assure you, without booze coke has zero appeal for the vast majority. If you look at what has happened in Portugal since decriminalisation of drug use, it's clear that making things illegal does nothing to control their use.

Most of the unlicensed is crap, but there's the odd "ringer". I know an exceptional kid who fought under his brothers name because of his amateur license. I actually felt sorry for the local ticket seller he boxed.

On one of the local promotions they use a northern lad who can really motor, I've seen him in the gym, and he just takes a fall fight after fight! He's got it down to a fine art. The local ticket sellers he fights have no idea that he'd splatter them if he put it on them.

Ye ther is a lad from manchester always comes down to birkenhead to fight on a local unlicensed show takes the lads the distance but if he wanted to you could tell he could end it in one round,moves like the matrix but doesnt throw many punches,£200 for abit of breakdancing is a bargain

One who boxes under the name Paul Smith, gets beat everytime yet you can see a mile off he would beat them at the drop of a hat.

Maybe shows how poor some of the ticket sellers really are though because when he boxed pro under his real name Paul Haines, he failed to pick up a single win in any of his 12 or 13 bouts, despite him telling me he was actually trying to win in those and just never seemed to get the decision.

Yes same as a lad i know,he boxes on this scene now under his pro name he would always give value for money to the spectator,he won 3 i think drawn 2 got beat about 35 times been in with quigg burns carl johanson craig docherty,for effort id give him 10/10 but for skill and listening to advice from his trainer id gave to give a 3/10,peter allen,loved to fight thats it

I never said alcohol doesnt cause problems i said drugs do,as jamie said in a previous post its coke and alcohol combined that causes problems,people just lose their marbles on the two and think their co ck of the world but really their co ckhead of the world

I didn't read the arguments on drugs.

But on the unlicensed issue. Most, if not all, of the shows are now licensed, just not by BBBOC. So licensed by likes of BBU (British boxing union) etc....
And isn't it just like semi pro football scene. Not everyone can be a premier league footballer. But in football it's accepted there's a league for lads who aren't skilled ....?
