If he does carry on he should do it the Foreman comeback way, stringing together a run of a dozen or so stoppages against roadkill opposition. I think Hughie Fury got a dozen wins in 2013. Whilst nothing can take away the bad losses, Price can become relevant again at domestic/european level with a series of easy knock outs, to remind people what he can actually do.
Maybe his inactivity is down to a lack of enthusiasm for the sport. He probably realizes he's gone as far as he can in the game and sees no point in knocking over bums for a grand or two every couple of months especially if it means training camp.

He clearly doesn't live the life so the prospect of dragging his lumpen unathletic frame through a gruelling 6 or 8 weeks might not appeal to him when he considers the frugal rewards on offer

The extra weight seemed to make him less chinny, seemed to take some decent shots a lot better. Coldwell has stated that he has a separate conditioner and he is just the boxing coach however his advice in the corner was that he would outlast Hammer.

We know he can bang out Latvian doormen

Nobody is going to be fooled again with price

The hammer loss effectively ended his career

Now he has to come in as an opponent and take the short end of the stick against a good fighter if he wants to continue. The ortiz fight is probably still there for him. I could see pulev or povetkin offering him pennies to come to go abroad for a fight. This is going to be his only way back. No promoter is going to heavily invest in him. You'd have to be mad to do so.

I agree, but I still think it would be his best option. Its amazing how you can make yourself "new" again with a few knock overs, of course nobody will be fooled but if you've bowled over half a dozen or so latvian doormen in fine style, whilst the heavyweight division is changing shape with upsets and unbeaten records going belly-up, sometimes you can find yourself back in some sort of contention. For instance, and I'm indulging my idea a bit much here, Price comes back in the summer, and racks up eight knock outs by the end of the year, some on TV, some not, and meanwhile Joshua loses badly, Hughie Fury loses vs Parker, Whyte loses in a WBC challenge, and Tyson Fury returns to the ring by the end of the year and stinks the joint out after coming in at twenty stones. Suddenly Price is a bit more viable. Just read that back and its most unlikely I must say but I'll post it anyway :OhYes:

Pretty poor of Coldwell to blame a S&C coach. He is the head trainer, the buck stops with him and he has the overall responsibility to ensure his fighter is ready to win the fights. S&C is meant to just do targeted specific work to get them in condition and if this is failing, it is down to Coldwell as head trainer to step in and sort it out and when your guy weighs 25lb more than previously, it must be pretty obvious

Spot on. Price had a long amateur career and weighed 248lbs on his pro debut. His weight is very consistent up to his 22nd fight (249lbs).
Under the stewardship of Coldwell his weight has jumped to 271, 278 and 275 for his next 3 fights.

Coldwell had little success bringing through his own fighters. He seems to have been gifted some ready-made fighters due to his cosy relationship with Hearn.
He loves the fame that this has brought him with his countless IFL interviews, work from Sky and social media. I recall an IFL interview where he claimed Price was much better weighing in heavier.
The way he has hung Price and his S&C coach out to dry (via social media) perhaps tells you everything you need to know about his character.

Can't knock what he's done, tbh. Yeah it hasn't gone right for him since the Thompson fights but he cleaned out the domestic division in 2012 barring a few names.

The problem is that because there's money at the top, and none in the middle, it's not enough for a boxer on a winning streak to defend his British title, because theres no living in that, every fighter with an ounce of potential must be pushed for the very top because thats how the promoter recoups his investment. the prices of the world pay the cost of that policy

it was an entertaining fight, simply because david price always gives his opponent a chance due to his fragility.

he is a poor mans enzo maccarinelli really, always in good fights but can be horribly beaten.
A VERY poor man's Maccarinelli. In fact the two don't really belong in the same sentence, Macc can be truly proud of a great career in the pros - exciting ups and downs, a version of a world title, European title, British title, exciting fights and really it can be said he got the maximum out of his style and attributes to become a really popular boxer with British boxing fans.

Price hasn't got near those levels.
Im not on about titles, im on about big punching and fragility.

He was blowing at the end of the 1st and every round after, he actually quit and did his trade mark bend over and blow out at the end of the 6th, he's absolutely finished and has been since Thompson.

Not seen his latest fight...I understand he got stopped by a former amateur (European?) champ.....but when I see a fighter in this kind of territory it makes me question whether it was worth pursuing a boxing career at all.

I haven't read all seven pages so apologies if I'm repeating something which has already been said. It's a known fact that Price suffers terribly from nerves before fights, anxiety can actually be physically draining and can leave you empty as you expend all your reserves through nervous energy. A small amount of this is good but a lot will tire you out far too early.

I'm not defending him turning up at over 20st just trying to put another perspective on the discussion.

As to whether Price is done, well it depends what his targets are. He could regroup, try and win the Lonsdale belt outright and then build towards the EBU belt. These are achievable targets but I can't see him getting a shot at a world strap...

Yeah his wild celebrations after beating the likes of Audrey show you how nervous he came in and how relieved he was to win.

I don't see him beating any euro level guys like hammer, Duhappas, takam etc. He can't get past British level with white and Chisora there. He's not going to get a voluntary title shot. I don't think he has anywhere to go at all to be honest. Blast out a few Latvian doormen and get beaten by hammer again? He's just not good enough. No shame in that.
