Yup, he'd beat the crap out of Povetkin.
Lewis knocked Golota out in a minute or so.. and Grant even knocked Golota out.. Austin knocked him out.. Brewster knocked him out.. Ruiz beat him... Tyson knocked him out.. The whole world knocked the chickensh!t Golota out.. NOBODY ever knocked out Povetkin and he's an Olympic Gold Medal winner at Heavyweight.. Was Tyson ever knocked out??? YUP!!! 5 X beginning with 42-1 underdog Buster Douglas, who's been knocked out 3 X previously.

And Lewis is older than Tyson and one of the many guys who knocked Tyson out.

And Rahman is 1-1 with Lewis and knocked Lewis out with one punch...

And Povetkin blew Rahman away so easily it was a joke... A rematch wasn't called for because Rahman stunk the world out with his effort.

Remember Povetkin stopped Maiusz Wach... And Wach embalmed Kevin McBride with one punch... And Tyson couldn't hurt McBride with his best punch.

Lol, whenever I see someone quote one of his posts it reminds me why I put him on ignore in the first place.

You're not smart enough to know It's not math.. Math deals with stats such as what percentage of the fights you lost are KO losses on your record... For Tyson it's 5 of 6 so 83% -- because he fouled out of one fight before he could get knocked out.. Povetkin has never been stopped so it's 0%.. But the above deals with comparative analysis.. How did Povetkin do with guys Tyson lost to and vice versa,, Since they have no common opponents you extrapolate.

Don't forget as well, Povetkin has shown a good chin and a good mentality througout his career. He's never been stopped. Was only dropped in 1 fight (VS a 10 year long champion Klitscko), and even in that fight Povetkin showed chin and heart to survive.

Mike Tyson would mentally fall apart anytime he met an opponent that wouldnt just roll over. He was dropped in 6 or 7 different fights, was KO'd or stopped on atleast 5 occasions. He would essentially mentally quit in fights that became tough for him and went past 6 rounds. Tyson really is truly a 6 round fighter.

Tyson is the more likely of the 2 to be KO'd. Not to mention, Povetkin had a much better amateur background and is thus a better technical boxer. Power its roughly equal. I'd bet money Povetkin knocks him out.

I could see a fight where Tyson does very well early, but fades as the fight goes on and gets brutally knocked out or stopped in the middle of the fight.

I understand people have their own opinion, but come on. Anybody that thinks Povetkin would beat Tyson is a complete idiot. Reading some of these posts is the reason John should just shut down the forum.

That kind of insane statement is completely emotional and biased...

You have one boxer who's an American who didn't make the Olympics -- and suffered 2 of the worst upset KO losses of all time... and was knocked out 3 other times for a total of 5 KO defeats... And you have one boxer who's a Russian, who won an Olympic Gold Medal as a Heavyweight -- and who has never been knocked out -- and only suffered one decision loss in his career... And you're saying anybody who says the Russian would win is an idiot.

This poll is a disgrace to boxing. Somebody delete please. Mentioning Iron Mike even in the same sentence as pedvetkin is utter travesty.

Great points... Mike became mentally unglued and was KO'd by massive underdogs and was stopped 5 times.. Povetkin has never come close to being stopped -- because he doesn't get hammered the way Tyson did by 42-1 underdog Buster Douglas.

Andrew Kearney wrote:I like Povetkin's chances. Incredible amateur background, over 350 amateur bouts, won an Olympic Gold, much better than Tyson's. Technically, you'd have to favour Povetkin. Better technique, defense, and boxing know-how. In terms of power both guys are very close, I'd say even, they've both KTFO a lot of guys. Tyson's weakness has always been his mentality and he tended to almost quit in fights where he met an opponent who fought back and wouldn't just roll over.

Prime for prime I think Tyson starts well, but fades and Povetkin knocks him out brutally in the 7th round.

Would be a good fight tho :box:

Has John Shep considered closing Current Scene? It's not a good advertisement for Boxrec. The decline of this forum since 2002 is similar to that of Ali between Liston and Berbick.

Just a festering cesspit of stupidity and ignorance, and sad to read.

Alternative facts---to go along with your emotionally biased platitudes, nationalism, cold war rhetoric, and no facts to back up your myth perpetuation.

Joe Mesi never lost. He would take both on the same night. He showed resilience to overcome KD's and win fights, whereas Povetkin showed that once you knock him down, he's not coming back to win.

Mesi never fought anybody good ... In reality he was beaten by nobody Monte Barrett ... a guy who trudging man-mountain Nicolai Valuev easily blasted out.. Mesi was also beaten everywhere but on the scorecards by Vasily Jirov -- a guy who fat Middleweight James Toney beat into submission.

If Mesi's fights with losers Barrett and Jirov were scheduled for 12 rounds -- he would have been knocked out by both... He barely finished 10.

Mesi was nowhere... Any top Heavyweight would have shlttcanned the slug in a couple of rounds... He was another David Rodriguez.

Wlad was thrown around the ring like a rag by a golfer and easily disposed of that chump Povetkin while noticeably on the decline as seen in the Fury fight. Joe Mesi never lost to a guy who lost to a golfer. Mesi KO1 Povetkin. :bag:
