Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
Sensible decision if true.
A new trainer can give Scott some new ideas but I think just being freed from the Gallagher bootcamp and the strict adherence to infight strategies will benefit him too. He can think things out more for himself rather than being spoon fed instructions by Joe. I appreciate that the fighter has to listen to his trainer especially during the fight but I got the impression that Scott just followed what Joe said unquestioningly.
And am I alone in thinking that Quigg may secretly have been p1ssed off with the Smiths. I'm sure they all fed off each other in the gym and it must be a bonus to have several very accomplished fighters working in your camp day in day out but if I was paying Joe whatever percentage he gets I'd want a bit more of his time and a bit more exclusivity.

Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
The Frampton tactics were awful and were compounded by Gallaghers inability to sense and see what was plainly obvious and tell him to adjust and start working earlier, then further compounded by the after fight reaction of Tesco Joe actually thinking they had been winning those early rounds.
At some point someone needed to sit Quigg down and make him watch the fight again so he could see how bad the tactics were and also how bad the trainer was guiding him. One cannot improve if we do not recognise our mistakes and when your trainer cannot spot said mistakes, how can he guide you to improve on a performance?

Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
No idea if true, but Quigg should have left him straight after the Frampton fight anyway.
Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
Think Gallagher gets a hard time on here but agreed the Frampton tactics were missjudged. If this is true I'd say Hatton has to be the big favourite to take Quigg on
Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
Looks like he's already done a few sessions with Hatton from what I've seenfizzjambo wrote:Think Gallagher gets a hard time on here but agreed the Frampton tactics were missjudged. If this is true I'd say Hatton has to be the big favourite to take Quigg on

Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
I wouldn't give Gallagher such a hard time if he hadn't made exactly the same tactical mistake against Salinas just a few fights earlier.fizzjambo wrote:Think Gallagher gets a hard time on here but agreed the Frampton tactics were missjudged. Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
Very good move from Quigg if true something he should have done the second after he watched the Frampton fight back.

Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
Weird I was thinking only the other day about Quigg and whether he would leave Gallagher and what his other options would be if he did finally do this. I was thinking he's a Northern lad who is probably a home-boy at heart, but that the best options might be outside of Manchester now. Hatton worth a go I suppose, will probably get a lot more one-to-one out of Ricky than he did Gallagher who always seems to have too many fighters.

Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
I'm glad if true. I like Quigg.. Don't like Gallagher.
Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
It's an interesting one. Whilst I think ZZs win last weekend s better than any win Gallagher has had as a a trainer, will Ricky 100% committed how do we know he won't go off the rails again.TheCobra wrote:Weird I was thinking only the other day about Quigg and whether he would leave Gallagher and what his other options would be if he did finally do this. Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
Quigg was definitely doing a bit with Hatton and couple of his lads last week.
Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
boxing needs hatton just as much as hatton needs boxing. getting quigg would give him the direction to avoid pitfalls. think it would be a good move, quigg lives the sport, but he totally ballsed up the frampton fight. hes better than that.Naandrew wrote:It's an interesting one. Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
When Quigg woke up and started working from the 6th on, he won more rounds than Frampton. He has the beating of Frampton for me. Gallagher was absolutely abysmal in that one. Some of the very worst tactics and cornerwork I've seen
Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
Quigg would be doing well if he could get someone like Adam Booth...
Getting him at his physical peak - and working on his power punching.

Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
Quigg has been on twitter after some pad work with Ricky Hatton, if quigg stays put around Manchester then it can only be hatton I don't think there's anyone else I think they would be a good match for each other and I'm hearing excellent thing of Hatton as a trainer it's just the other side of it I've heard a little unreliable and the boozing.

I'm surprised Joe can work with anyone except the Smiths due to their bi annual guaranteed world title shots.

Yeah am gutted it ain't true, a think Hatton or Booth would have been good for him.
Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
Quigg & Hatton together is a terrible idea.
The Quigg fish & chip shop would be out of business within a month and Ricky would end up the size of Tranmere.

I've heard off a very good source that he's left Gallagher, that's all I've been told nothing else about where he's going
Re: Quigg leaves Gallagher
Fitness and power punching are already his biggest strengths, he needs to learn to use his jab more and to think for himself during fights. But I suppose that Booth would help in those departments too.Crease wrote:Quigg would be doing well if he could get someone like Adam Booth...
