On a serious note though, just looks like a load of boozed up people letting the adrenalin get the better of them, not a decent shot thrown, not that it's about technicality in that situation mind, but don't look like none of them could hold their hands up if it was just 1 on 1 with no group of other rioters to feed off
A sneak preview of Warrington-Selby aftermath....

Was this the Golden Gloves Boxing League show? If so was to be expected, having a load of Leeds fighters fighting against a load of lads from Manchester who bring their fans over with them, was only going to end one way.

It was Leeds v Wakefield by all accounts. Bateson has just said on FB it wasn't one of his to put all his customers at ease. The promoter came on and said nobody could have stopped last night, then Denzil Browne popped up telling him he had a crap team on the door... Denz is at loggerheads with the promoter for some reason.Manchester Massive wrote:Was this the Golden Gloves Boxing League show? The promoter is saying Leeds United insisted on providing the bulk of the stewards and he was only allowed 12 men on. The stewards were useless and hid during the trouble. It's like this at The MEN, the stewards get zero respect from anyone.

If you saw a bloke in his thirties, with his dad in his 60's, crap himself when all hell broke loose around him, that would be meOld Jack J wrote:There was a little black lad with an Arsenal (of all things) shirt on who must have been kicked out the fire exit 3 or 4 times but kept running around the front and kicking it off again. As I said I was very fortunate to be at the other corner so had a good view of the boxing and of the riot. There were a lot of people hurt from what I heard the next day. That's the worst kick off I have ever seen.JimJim2009 wrote:I was at that show, with my dad, and we inadvertently found ourselves in the thick of it. It was a shame as we had the best seats I've ever had at a live show. The mega long delay between bouts - where the unrest stirred as there was nothing going on in the ring to occupy bored pixxed up fans - was because of a delay with ambulance cover. If my memory is correct we were all twiddling our thumbs for more than an hour. As usual for a boxing show the security couldn't really deal with the trouble. When it errupted around my and my dad we went running for cover. Nasty stuff, some of it.Old Jack J wrote:I remember being at Halifax for the James Hare vs David Barnes fight. The bill was marketed as Yorkshire vs Manchester. That place erupted for a good half hour. I was luckily sat at the opposite end of the hall when it kicked off. The security staff were throwing people out of the fire exit who were then running around and back in the front door and joining in again. It was never ending. Mathew Hatton was on the card and it kicked off around Ricky Hatton who was ringside. Ricky dived in to the ring to get out of the way! We left early to avoid the car park ruckus that was obviously going to follow.

awful security
awful MC...swearing like a trooper then moaning that there are young ladies in there, get a grip mate, you cant have it both ways.
the lass in the blue got well and truly laid out, if you dont want trouble then dont hang around near the trouble!!

All boxing banned starting from now at Elland Road. Bateson has had to move his March show, and he's been promoting there for over ten years without any bother.

Bunch of girls. None of 'em look useful.
That girl in the blue dress did ok tho, must be hard to throw a punch with high heels on and keep your balance. Future oppo for Nicola Adams - she could probably sell a few tickets

Maybe Bateson will move to the royal armouries also. This time it might be already booked out and so use the john charles centre, as it was short notice.standing8 wrote:what about the dinner shows??mickey1975 wrote:John Charles Centre.standing8 wrote:

I wonder if it also means josh wouldnt get to fight in the stadium if the fight gets made with selby.
I think the ground and the banqueting suite are owned by different people/companys.

I always felt safer at a big show, rather than some white collar shitfest!
