He does talk some serious shit though....he recently signed 6 contracts for Gatti, Mayweather, and a few others to sign for a fight...I'm pulling for Rick in this one.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Never seen Colazo fight but stopping Miguel Angel Gonzalez who took Spinks 12 and gave ODLH and Tyuzu decent fights isn't too bad.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Someone must have sold their soul to get Collazo a title shot in the first place, his record is terrible, he has beaten absolutely nobody of any note whatsoever.
Not knocking Fight Academy, they probably needed a title on the line to get HBO interested, presuming this is being shown on HBO, but Collazo's record suggests he was never destined to be champ for long.
Supposedly Colazos a tricky southpaw, at 5'9 with a 72inch reach (about the same as Maussa and probably has better skills) and a natural welter maybe he could be a bit tricky for ricky.
It's HATTON-COLLAZO now

No PBF rang Team Hatton who weren't ready for the fight yet, Ray Hatton himself said as much. They want 3fights stateside before they're ready for PBF. They didnt get round to talking money.jamesmcdonnell wrote:By offer you of course mean ran his mouth.....Mattyp151 wrote:PBF doesn't need to be persuaded to fight Hatton...he offered twice last year and Hatton said no both times. If Hatton was as good as everyone made him out to be, maybe he'd take it, but that shows where Floyd is in relation to Ricky.Foggy wrote:I welcome the fight, if Hatton wins he gets the WBA title, that makes him a 2 weight world champion, but with PBF & Cotto moving up to Welter it gives Hatton a chance to fight 1 of these two & the belt will maybe persuade either PBF or Cotto to fight Hatton.
That is not the same as sitting down reasonably and negotiating a fight. Anyone can call someone else out, then demand terms which are totally unreasonable, it's not like they actually made an offer to Hatton, Floyd just ran his mouth is all.

Hobson also confirmed that he had reached a deal to fight WBA welterweight champion Luis Collazo, but that Hatton's trainer Billy Graham vetoed the fight with the awkward southpaw. "Billy felt Collazo would play spoiler and try to put a dampener on what we want to be an explosive championship debut for Ricky in America," said Hobson.
This I think was yesterday so maybe they'll go for Collazo now

Here they have a guy who is one of the best in the world, supposedly, and they don't want him to fight someone because he won't make him look good? Come on...be a champ and fight. Being scared to lose is the dumbest thing ever...If it isn't Collazo, I hope Ricky gets beat.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Hobson also confirmed that he had reached a deal to fight WBA welterweight champion Luis Collazo, but that Hatton's trainer Billy Graham vetoed the fight with the awkward southpaw. He's not going to sell many tickets in America fighting someone like M'Baye or Rabah, though. They have to try and find someone who is recognisable in the U.S. and can draw a half decent crowd, even if the fighter in question isn't hugely credible. Collazo is only slightly better than the likes of Ben Rabah and M'Baye, but then what options do they have left? Kendall Holt? Casamayor? They're probably the only other two fighters from lightweight to welter who don't currently have a fight lined up. There really isn't a great deal that team Hatton can do.
