Not knocking Fight Academy, they probably needed a title on the line to get HBO interested, presuming this is being shown on HBO, but Collazo's record suggests he was never destined to be champ for long.
Supposedly Colazos a tricky southpaw, at 5'9 with a 72inch reach (about the same as Maussa and probably has better skills) and a natural welter maybe he could be a bit tricky for ricky.

No PBF rang Team Hatton who weren't ready for the fight yet, Ray Hatton himself said as much. They want 3fights stateside before they're ready for PBF. That is not the same as sitting down reasonably and negotiating a fight. Anyone can call someone else out, then demand terms which are totally unreasonable, it's not like they actually made an offer to Hatton, Floyd just ran his mouth is all.

Hobson also confirmed that he had reached a deal to fight WBA welterweight champion Luis Collazo, but that Hatton's trainer Billy Graham vetoed the fight with the awkward southpaw. "Billy felt Collazo would play spoiler and try to put a dampener on what we want to be an explosive championship debut for Ricky in America," said Hobson.

He's not going to sell many tickets in America fighting someone like M'Baye or Rabah, though. They have to try and find someone who is recognisable in the U.S. and can draw a half decent crowd, even if the fighter in question isn't hugely credible. Collazo is only slightly better than the likes of Ben Rabah and M'Baye, but then what options do they have left? Kendall Holt? Casamayor? They're probably the only other two fighters from lightweight to welter who don't currently have a fight lined up. There really isn't a great deal that team Hatton can do.
