Canelo would beat the shit out of him.

Interesting fight- Canelo being flat footed like he is would be dangerous against Lemieux.

I would love to see this fight. Much more intriguing than taking Golovkin's beating.

After the punishment GGG gave him, and how he kept coming back, I have the utmost respect for David. He also dominated Stevens recently and seems to get better each tough fight.
I would pick him to beat Canelo on points. He would certianly be the best opponent Alverez has faced since Floyd. Kahn was always going to go down against Canelo so I don't count that![[icon_wink.gif] ;-)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)

Lemieux wouldnt have to deal with a mobile target, but on the flip side, his straight ahead, wide swinging attack plays into Canelo's stationary countering style.

Canelo got judges. The only way to beat him is to stop him or humiliate him like Floyd did (which is not an option for Lemieux). If Lemieux lets it go 12 rounds, then he lost.KiwiRider wrote:After the punishment GGG gave him, and how he kept coming back, I have the utmost respect for David. Luckily David hunts for the knockout from the opening bell, every fight. Even after he bounced N'dam off the canvas a few times he was still trying to finish at the end. I agree, if Canelo is still standing after 12 rounds he's getting the decision no matter what.boxing_rocks wrote:Canelo got judges. Canelo would look to counter him but I agree that Lemieux has to KTFO Canelo to get the win.

Both guys styles fit what the other guy wants. It would be a great fight and one I'd love to see!

I think this could be one hell of a fight.
Lemiuex looked great against Stevens, he battered him, and he has looked a far better boxer since the GGG fight, when he was winging away from the opening bell walking onto shots.
Canelo is very good, but how is he going to do against a genuine MW with a huge punch.
I think this is a distance fight.

Lemieux was throwing tight short shots against Stevens.crusader wrote:Lemieux wouldnt have to deal with a mobile target, but on the flip side, his straight ahead, wide swinging attack plays into Canelo's stationary countering style.

Lemieux gets dominated and then stopped by Canelo. The Mexican would counter punch the Canadian slugger to smithereens! He'd be a broken man, smashed into tiny little pieces.
Re: Canelo vs Lemieux - stylistically is a superb fight aside GGG vs Canelo
GGG got little credit for beating this guy easy, why it would be any different for canelo smacks of double standard.
Lemieux is ok. Obviously his punch is his winning ticket. A good skilled boxer negates most 1 trick ponies

Lemieux has always had a tight left hook, but he still throws a lot of wide right hands.
