Was he bleeding before the headbut?

No chance they'll rematch.

Lockett took the docs advise, she was clearly shaking her head to not go on.

I think it WAS intentional, but it was clever/cynical/snide enough that the ref would have to give him the benefit of the doubt.
I don't think anyone would want to see Smith DQ'd for that.
Or even a point off.

As for Smith "I woulda stopped him next round regardless""

FFS ! :shame: :witzend: :brick: :brick: :brick: :witzend: :shame:

Crock a shit that, Smith is one lucky guy, i'll give him his due he was coming on strong and maybe starting to turn things in his favour but Williams gave him a boxing lesson for the majority of that fight, Beefy dangerous with the head to cause the cut to Williams, he's very fortunate, why didn't Lockett point the cut out to Terry O'Connor? it was a bad cut and I'm sure Tel would've consulted the doc and we would've had a TD

An absolute masterclass from Williams at times there, he was far too fast and mobile for the slower footed Smith, he jabbed well and worked the uppercut well too as well as the straight right landing at will , Smith is a warrior though and for the 1st time in his career Williams looked in trouble when he backed up on the ropes just as the round finished

Great fight but that was a smash and grab from Smith and there must be a rematch

I suppose Williams will end up doing well out of this.

Big rematch on BT sport for the vacant belt. More money, and more exposure.
Gutted for him right now though.

WHAT AN UTTER SHAMBLE THAT WAS.

Liam comes in overweight

Headbutt but Terry O'Connor doesn't spot it and he's right there.

Williams only 1 point up on the judges scorecard....

What a con that was.

He did - apparently GL was haranguing the ref between rounds but T O'C was having none of it. :witzend:

Williams looked a thoroughly better fighter

Not sure if that was the difference or Smith not turning up for 6 rounds

But thats a heartbreaking finish
