The FLYWEIGHT game: *GAME CLOSED*
The FLYWEIGHT game: *GAME CLOSED*
Our penultimate thread in the series, following the success of the Heavyweight, Light Heavyweight, Middleweight, Welterweight, Lightweight, Featherweight & Bantamweight threads...
This is a game which will be decided by the wisdom of the crowd.
Each of us has our own opinions on who was better than who, or which achievement was greater than others.
But let's bring it all together and allow simple mathematics to decide it all.
The game is this, each poster names and ranks his Top 10 Flyweights of all time and with each ranking comes a certain number of points.
First place gets 10 points, tenth place gets 1 point - and everything fits in between.
Posters are NOT allowed to edit their posts or change their minds as it will effect the overall accumulated points for each fighter.
I will keep a track of the total scoring each time I'm online. This game has a 30-day deadline, after 30 days - the final points totals will be decided.
Our deadline day will be May 1st.

Re: The FLYWEIGHT game: *GAME OPEN*
I've started this thread VERY late (8th April) - as such, to make up for the lost time I will PM the 14 members who gave their lists on the previous thread, to make them aware that this game is up and running.

I'd never heard of him till a few years ago you brought him up on the forum. Some huge wins on his resume.

Re: The FLYWEIGHT game: *GAME OPEN*
He was super close for me. Ahead of the likes of LaBarba, Genaro, M Wolgast and Pladner; could and probably should have had him over Ohba and Oguma thinking about it. Good for the weight longer than the former and more consistent than the latter (especially given his era). Rating Canto highly pushed up those other guys with him though right or wrong.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I can't believe nobody rates newsboy brown.

Re: The FLYWEIGHT game: *GAME OPEN*
I posted a list on the 8th, or at least I thought I had.
Think it looked something like this
1. Jimmy Wilde
2. Pascual Perez
3. Benny Lynch
4. Pongsaklek Wonjongkam
5. Miguel Canto
6. Pone Kingpetch
7. Pancho Villa
8. Peter Kane
9. Newsboy Brown
10. Jackie Patterson
2 Scots and 4 UK based fighter in total, tells me I've gone for what I have knowledge of and could perhaps have over looked the likes of Laciar and Labarba who always make these lists.
I had a look at them, but I suppose it feels that I would just be trying to talk myself into including guys because everyone else did.
