The perambulatory McIntosh, ever-avuncular and far from lugubrious, will be prowling, pantherine and poised, circumnavigating the ringside area with his microphone always at the ready, exchanging off-the-cuff verbal repartee with the denizens of the expensive seats, for the delectation of his discerning viewerschad wrote:Ronald McIntosh will be ringside as roving reporter."

He might bestride the ringside area and pass between it's occupants, bearing bonhomie and supplying the occasional piece of piquant wit and strident phrasing, facilitating the better understanding of the viewers ensconced in their living rooms of the momentous atmosphere of the night's pugilistic portents, yeschad wrote:In other words cutting about and saying pooCounter-puncher wrote:The perambulatory McIntosh, ever-avuncular and far from lugubrious, will be prowling, pantherine and poised, circumnavigating the ringside area with his microphone always at the ready, exchanging off-the-cuff verbal repartee with the denizens of the expensive seats, for the delectation of his discerning viewerschad wrote:Ronald McIntosh will be ringside as roving reporter."

Same with the UFC. Imagine how big that would be here if it was on the Sky Sports hype machine. Are these advertised during the footy on BT? Not saw it, thats the type of people you are aiming for.
Re: Fr&nk allegedly back with a bang?
Flanagan topping the bill against an unknown euro fighter when every terrace dandy is already barring up for the big one between klit and Joshua at Wembley?
As stated already should have been the two liams at the top of the bill not this shite.

Be far better than Sky's commentary team so far. Sky are lacking behind in that department for me. No natural guy with true boxing knowledge.chad wrote:Broadcast team on the night also confirmed:

Re: Fr&nk allegedly back with a bang?
Liam Williams and Terry Flanagan aren't an easy sell to the casual following, both seem good decent lads but not crossover material.
Re: Fr&nk allegedly back with a bang?
I'm not sure the UFC would be that big in fairness. It's been on BT for years, the first domestic show was over a decade ago. It's definitely entered the realm of being widely known. I just don't think as many people like it as was thought when it first kicked off beyond the freak show start it had.SAPFO wrote:Same with the UFC. I think it's found its fanbase and it'll carry on reasonably similar to the way it has done.
Flanagan Petrov was advertised during Chelsea Man City this week by the way. Again the issue is nobody watching has heard of either, so you're advertising 'the boxing' rather than 'the Flanagan fight.'

Tbf though, Sam Eggington is more well known than Liam Williams!samwbr wrote:Liam Williams and Terry Flanagan aren't an easy sell to the casual following, both seem good decent lads but not crossover material.
Re: Fr&nk allegedly back with a bang?
I'm always on Twitter and I have to say I've seen a hell of a lot more about this card than a usual FW bill. There's some good YouTube content as well, BT Sport have some little 'No Filter Boxing' episodes which are very similar to the 'UFC Embedded' ones. 10 minutes following the fighters on the card during fight week. Nothing ground breaking but at least there are signs that they've seen what works, are willing and most importantly with the extra money, now seemingly able to put a bit more money into promoting the events. Obviously might not result in massive numbers on their first few shows but it's important they stick with it and try and build for the long term imo.

Seriously though I think the issue with this card is Flanagan. Yes he's a world champion in his home town, but he's barely known inside it never mind out and he's fighting a guy nobody has heard of. The public aren't stupid; Terry's a 1/7 shot to win the fight and all the talk of toughest tests won't convince people who've never seen Petrov that he's much cop.
The Smith v Williams fight feels more like a headiner and would have done much better in Liverpool or Wales. For all the promotional talk that is mentioned in the first post you have to ask questions about how this has sold; the number of tickets available and simply given away seem massive.
Smith Williams should have been in Wales. Looked a belting atmosphere when Williams fought Corcoran at the ice arena last year. This fight would have packed it out. I think it isn't there because Smith thinks he is a big star when he isn't. No one turned up when he made his first home town defence last year.
As for Terry I have said for years he beats Crolla comfortably but that doesn't mean people will turn up to see him. He just doesn't have the personality or the story like Crolla has. Neither does he have the sky/matchroom bandwagon behind him.
I slate Hearn all the time for the BS he comes out with but no one can critisize his ability to promote fights.

I've seen it All over Twitter tooBoxerbeetle wrote:Do people on here not follow boxers/FW/B0xnati0n on Twitter? My timeline has been full of promos for this show.
Decent buzz

Was talking to my best mate about Sam eggington being a great example of the difference between promoters.TheGingerBomber wrote:Tbf though, Sam Eggington is more well known than Liam Williams!samwbr wrote:Liam Williams and Terry Flanagan aren't an easy sell to the casual following, both seem good decent lads but not crossover material.
Just look at the path he has taken after the skeete fight then look where skeete has gone since.
Re: Fr&nk allegedly back with a bang?
like Skeete says himself though,if Eggington would have beaten Skeete then he would still be defending the British title to try and win it outright just like Skeete is doing.Naandrew wrote:Was talking to my best mate about Sam eggington being a great example of the difference between promoters.TheGingerBomber wrote:Tbf though, Sam Eggington is more well known than Liam Williams!samwbr wrote:Liam Williams and Terry Flanagan aren't an easy sell to the casual following, both seem good decent lads but not crossover material.

Re: Fr&nk allegedly back with a bang?
People are overrating the hype for Hearn shows. Most of his regular Sky shows don't cross over to the casual. They do low figures.
Re: Fr&nk allegedly back with a bang?
But the attendances are significantly more. Be interesting tonight I'm going and went to Linares v Crolla two weeks ago.emallini wrote:People are overrating the hype for Hearn shows. Most of his regular Sky shows don't cross over to the casual. They do low figures.
Still early days for Frank on BT. Hearn wasn't doing big shows instantly in the sky exclusive deal. It will take time but getting involved is only good for British boxing.

We are all well aware it hasn't sold like the Crolla fight, I won't be amazed or interested at that revelation.Naandrew wrote:But the attendances are significantly more. Re: Fr&nk allegedly back with a bang?
I'm guessing tonight does a lot more than Brook did defending in his home town, twice, on Sky.
Re: Fr&nk allegedly back with a bang?
People streaming out before and during the main event. I've seen photos of the arena during the Flanagan fight and it didn't look good.
It seemed obvious Smith Williams was the fight most were interested in. Say what you like about the merits of Flanagan but bars shutting an hour earlier plus public transport finishing and combine that with a fairly typical wide points win; it's a hard sell.
Big gaps between fights as well. This show wasn't so much a new era as typical of Warren over the past years.

Re: Fr&nk allegedly back with a bang?
great to see dempsey back on the bocksnation broadcast, he really does raise it to a whole new level. i loved the fact he was reigning buncey in, calling him out on some of the BS. and what was with bunce reading quotes off bits of paper when we'd just heard them? dempsey shut that lark down quickly.

Yeah I thought Dempsey was good at muting the excesses that Bunce is capable of. I think it's good for Bunce, forces him into a more serious vein, when he shows his knowledge far better. Once he gets up a head of steam on one of his rants, he sort of loses the plot and starts talking gibberish.veriton wrote:great to see dempsey back on the bocksnation broadcast, he really does raise it to a whole new level. i loved the fact he was reigning buncey in, calling him out on some of the BS. and what was with bunce reading quotes off bits of paper when we'd just heard them? dempsey shut that lark down quickly.

Re: Fr&nk allegedly back with a bang?
Have to say Flannagan looked very ordinary to me. I can't see him standing a chance with the other champs, just not enough imagination in his work.
