Edwin Valero....."Lightweight" of all the lightweight champions?
Well, I read right here on the forum, someone postulate that he may well have been the "best of the best" in this division.
So...it occurred to me to gather some sample opinions to see if that is a plausible consideration, or just a fantasy outlier.
So...I'm asking YOUR opinion......Could he have beaten ANY of these fighters?
If so...just place your check mark on the fighter/s that you think Valero would KO...since that's all he every did.
Oh ok...if you think he would win by decision....go ahead and give him credit.
This is not necessarily the top 10....just a list of very very good LW's.
And.....if you want to change your vote in the future.....I've left that option open.....
I have placed a check on every fighter on this list I think he would beat......and that would be NADA.
I am curious to see the outcome.

No idea why Nazarov is in there but he might be one of the twenty or thirty lightweights I'd pick to beat Valero, so why not him too

They all beat him handily. Mancini would have destroyed Valero.
Re: Edwin Valero....."Lightweight" of all the lightweight champions?
another thread to get Kalan posting again
All of those batter him senseless btw, even Nazarov, who I watched on Eurosport a lot.

Really needs a none of the above option to make your point Buzz
Your tragically sad Kalan obsessed point

Unique points of view don't anger me, they make me curious.
Seems Kalan has chimed in....or many people have chimed in with their single choice.
However currently every opponent has a single vote.......
I designed it to have some fun......and to sample opinion.
Apologies to those who dropped in just to complain about the concept......perhaps you can find better reading elsewhere on the forum? But nevertheless thanks for contributing to this thread that is otherwise beneath you.

He is beating the great Roberto Duran twice? May be at 154 or 160lbs.
At lightweight? I can't see it. Edwin Valero wasn't that good.

Since no one is backing it up in the discussion, I think we can ascertain that it is a humorous response.

None of him in credible fights. DeMarco isn't a total second rater, but he certainly doesn't move you to alltime status. His best fight was Mosquera.APerno wrote:Any videos of Valero available?

Valero beats none of these Lightweights. There's many more you could name he wouldn't have beaten either.

I don't think I'd fancy his chances against the "at their best" versions of Juan Diaz, Robert Guerrero or Adrien Broner to be honest, never mind any of this list of greats (and Nazarov). Current fighters like Lomachenko, M Garcia or Barthelemy would consider Valero nothing more than breakfast.

Looks to me like unowho may have voted 3 times....and maybe a couple of people have never heard of Nazarov, or never seen him fight.
Re: Edwin Valero....."Lightweight" of all the lightweight champions?
I figure Duran might beat Valero and maybe Mosley had the ghost of a chance... EV beats all others especially Armstrong who ate everything thrown at him until he could barely move -- and then quit in his corner... Did Armstrong beat Beau Jack or Ray Robinson??? That's a serious question for inquiring minds... Those 2 started at Featherweight and Lightweight respectively and beat the turds out of Armstrong for some reason.. For instance -- Beau Jack beat Fritzie Zivic twice in a row (in contrast to Zivic beating Armstrong twice in a row) and then he beat the living crap out of Armstrong.
Musta been because Armstrong was so damned easy to hit and Valero wasn't.. EV didn't walk in with his face hanging out.
