Eubank Vs Jamie Cox

He's in a difficult position and sometimes does himself no favours too I guess.
His life outside the ring has caused some long delays between contests and whilst he hasn't had any 'big name' opponents, he has dispatched those that he has faced brutally enough to be on the wrong side of the risk reward equation for many to want to face him.
I think I've said it before but when he went up to SM I thought that was a dreadful decision given his former much lighter weight, but he has looked like a killer at 168.
How far is he from a WBO mandatory position?

He's looked a different fighter at 168 but he hasn't fought anyone yet that's come to win. Considering who he's fought at 168, I'd be surprised if he's in the WBO's top 15 and I'd be amazed if he's near a mandatory!

If he does sign for Matchroom it'll be interesting to see what they do with him. I can't see him headlining any shows at the moment (is he a decent ticket seller?) but him vs a Ryder/Fielding/Paul Smith/Brophy/Martin Murray would be good fights.

I don't know how he does for tickets, not been able to build much momentum I'd guess because of the gaps.
I don't think he is top 15 WBO but I imagine that's his highest ranking as he holds one of their belts I believe?

Cox announced on twitter today that he's been released from his contract with FW. Not a big surprise there but Ithought his future plans (mentioned previously he was joining Matchroom) would have been forthcoming too.

Jnr would have Cox in a right state

Jnr likes to think of himself as the bully of the ring, Cox would be in to Jnr like a madman from the opener and while this would obviously suit Jnrs style of fighting, a dogfight, I think Cox would beat him at his own game

Cox = forum hype job

It's baffling how many people act like he'd quickly walk through opponents who are way better than all these guys who are taking him rounds. He's almost 31, never beaten anyone of note, arguably should've lost to mediocre Sai, and is regularly settling for decision wins at a fairly low level.

No

Too easy to hit, and Eubank hits pretty hard.
Rocky is a good fight for Cox and for the fans.
But he seems to be domestic level, albeit very entertaining domestic level.
Some good defensive coaching would be useful, because he already has good speed, offensive skills, reasonable power and a pretty good engine. But the domestic standard for that weight class is very classy.

Eubank spanks Cox imo, but I wouldn't say that CEJ is a hard puncher. There's a reason his opponents don't go down, despite being hit continually with flush, loaded up powershots.

I`m aware that I always mention this whenever Cox`s name comes up-But there`s no way he should be at SM.
Excluding Chudinov and CEJ of the champions and contenders at SM would massively outsize Cox.
Jamie`s been in camp sparring with Brook for last night`s fights,but then they weigh-in 21lbs apart and Cox fights 3 weight divisions above Kell.
I realise that there are far more opportunities at SM,but what`s the point if you`re not going to win any of those fights ?

Also if he is hoping for a higher level fighter to stand in front of him offering a target, he will be disappointed! He is complaining that Lewis Taylor got on his toes and wouldn't trade, what does he think George Groves will do? Top fighters are never there to be hit, that's why they are top fighters

It's about time people gave some credit to Taylor there are two fighters in there and I understand people's disappointment with coxs performance but let's weigh it up Taylor boxes okane as massive underdog boxes well possibly should have been the winner dodgy judges prevent that ! Then exposed Lang Ford early on but switched off and allowed him in ! Once again massive underdog ! Now takes on most avoided puncher in Britain was expected to be ko'd early on all three couldn't have been having such a bad day at the office? surly Taylor deserves his credit and believe me his time will come he's a real hard case who as I've said gives no-one an easy night !
