But it is very much like the situation with Joshua, perhaps even worse. People will want to see him at his level now, rather than these tedious learning fights. I'm a pragmatist, so I don't mind it, but can Dubois learn on the job like Joshua did? Would Dubois win now if you put him in with the likes of Charles Martin?
He might do, but what happens after that? Is he then a fringe world title contender with four fights under his belt? Probably not, as unless he's something utterly phenomenal then anyone at that level would destroy him.
I think knockover stay-busy fights are fine whilst he's in single figures, building as he goes to domestic level once he's knocking on ten fights. There's absolutely no need to rush; Joshua is the biggest name in the sport as far as the UK is concerned and whilst fighting Wlad and unifying in less than twenty fights is quick it still took him three years and after ten fights he was still fighting the likes of Sprott and Gavern.
Time is on his side, but I hope the opposite doesn't happen and in six years or so we're looking at a 30-0 Dubois who's standout win is against a faded 34-14 Chisora.
