Best Scheduled Fights for 2017?

Post by Enlightened-One »

Here’s a list of BoxRec’s four & five-star “confirmedtitle bouts that have yet to take place during the remainder of the current calendar year (listed according to star rating & chronological order):

• Kell Brook vs. Errol Spence Jr. (IBF World welterweight title)
• Adonis Stevenson vs. Andrzej Fonfara (WBC World light heavyweight title)
• Eleider Alvarez vs. Jean Pascal (WBC Silver light heavyweight title)
• Andre Ward vs. Sergey Kovalev (WBA, IBF & WBO Super World light heavyweight title)
• Robert Easter Jr vs. Denis Shafikov (IBF World lightweight title)
• Miguel Berchelt vs. Takashi Miura (WBC World super featherweight title)
• Gennady Golovkin vs. Saul Alvarez (WBC, WBA, IBF & IBO World middleweight title)
• George Groves vs. Fedor Chudinov (WBA Super World super middleweight title)
• Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Moises Flores (WBA Super World super bantamweight title)
• Manny Pacquiao vs. Jeff Horn (WBO World welterweight title)
• Billy Joe Saunders vs. Avtandil Khurtsidze (WBO World middleweight title)
• Jezreel Corrales vs. Robinson Castellanos (WBA Super World super featherweight title)
• Joe Smith Jr. vs. Sullivan Barrera (WBC International light heavyweight title)
• Callum Smith vs. Anthony Dirrell (vacant WBC World super middleweight title)

Out of all of these contests:

• Which one is the highest profile?
• Which one is likely to be the most exciting?
• Which one is likely to be the most boring?
• Which one should be deemed as a mismatch?
• Which fights are you most interested in watching?

General thoughts and predictions?

Profile: Anthony Joshua/Wladimir Klitschko, (this will be confirmed soon according to rumors) but for you list, Pacquiao/Horn. None of these other guys are big draws.

Exciting: Berchelt/Miura because you have two hungry guys willing to go toe-to-toe. Easily, a FoTY candidate from the start.

Boring: Rigondeaux/Flores most likely with Pascal/Alvarez a close second.

Mismatch: Corrales/Castellanos because I think Castellanos is way, way too small for SFW. He was looking a lot smaller than Gamboa.

Interest: Brook/Spence Jr., Saunders/Khurtsidze, Groves/Chudinov, Kovalev/Ward, Shafikov/Easter Jr., and Berchelt/Miura.

Good thread :TU:
