Usyk is Hoping To Eventually Fight Anthony Joshua
Re: Usyk is Hoping To Eventually Fight Anthony Joshua
I think a realistic heavyweight goal would be to defeat Parker for the WBO title.
Usyk, while a very good boxer, would be too overmatched physically against AJ, and I don't think he has the power to get respect from elite HWs.

Underrating it!? You said it's top 3 already! Disagree mate. Can only hope he moves up and we'll get to see if he cleans out heavyMexi-Box wrote:No, I'm probably underrating it. Cruiserweight is stacked, and probably in the top 3 best divisions currently.
He'll have an easier time at heavyweight than cruiserweight. Cruiserweight is stacked with monsters like Kudryashov, Briedis, Lebedev, and Gassiev.
Cruisers an ok division, its very good by its usual standards, but I think you're over cooking it

Yep, he is not a huge puncher even at CW. Giant heavyweights like Joshua will walk through him.crusader wrote:I think a realistic heavyweight goal would be to defeat Parker for the WBO title.

I don't even have him as a favorite against Gassiev.

Superfly is easily the best division in boxing imo. Estrada, Cuadras, Rungvisai, Gonzalez, Inoue, Casimiero (who announced his move), etc. Hell, Estrada was once a top 10 p4p fighter until his inactivity spree, Inoue is a top 10-5 p4p, Gonzalez is #3-1 p4p, Rungvisai is around #20-15 p4p. It's loaded with talent. Then you have guys like Arroyo, Anacajas, Yafai, and Carmona in the wings.Ossyrules wrote:Out of interest what is the other divisionMexi-Box wrote:It's probably more like a very solid top 2.Ossyrules wrote:

Gassiev isn't that good.. he's young yet.. gave many rounds away vs. lebedev tooboxing_rocks wrote:Yep, he is not a huge puncher even at CW. Giant heavyweights like Joshua will walk through him.crusader wrote:I think a realistic heavyweight goal would be to defeat Parker for the WBO title.

I am not so certain that Usyk beats pre-Gassiev Lebedev.Ruthless-RKO wrote:Gassiev isn't that good.. he's young yet.. gave many rounds away vs. lebedev tooboxing_rocks wrote:Yep, he is not a huge puncher even at CW. Usyk would beat Joshua now, dance circles around him all day.

Cruiserweight is unbeatable for quality boxers and punchers -- however It's stacked with Eastern Europeans -- guys who don't get a lot of market traction.. None of them have the size or strength to deal with Joshua however.. All the guys I've seen will never be over 225 as ripped Heavyweights.

Re: Usyk is Hoping To Eventually Fight Anthony Joshua
Usyk is not going to beat Joshua or clean anything out---except the Cruiserweight Division... and he'll have his problems going forward in that division.Mexi-Box wrote:Yeah, Joshua struggled with an old-as-dirt Klitschko who is one his way out. The fact that Klitschko was still a top 5 fighter after facing a one-sided defeat to Fury shows you how lackluster the division is. The HW division is way less talented than cruiserweight, and Usyk will clean it out.Lackeos wrote:Some people are under the crazy impression that Joshua and Klitschko are better at boxing than Joyce. Which is ridiculous, I know, because Joyce is considered a consensus top 10 all-time professional heavyweight. No wait, I'm thinking of Wladimir Klitschko, the guy that Joshua just beat.Mexi-Box wrote: Usky moving up or him beating Joshua? Usyk beat 6'6" Joyce in WSB. He can handle big fighters.

Re: Usyk is Hoping To Eventually Fight Anthony Joshua
Biggest problem I see with Usyk at heavyweight isn't his size but the problem that Usyk doesn't hit very hard. That will be a problem I think at heavyweight. I want to see him clear Gassiev out next.

Usyk hits real hard for a Cruiserweight... are you kidding??? ... He's just not a Heavyweight and will never beat the 6'6" X 250 Joshua.victor-romeo wrote:Biggest problem I see with Usyk at heavyweight isn't his size but the problem that Usyk doesn't hit very hard. I don't follow divisions below bantam so can't pass comment on those divisionsMexi-Box wrote:Superfly is easily the best division in boxing imo. Hits real hard? As soon as he stepped up, he has only one stoppage in 3 fights. He overwhelms lower level opponents with volume, but he doesn't hit that hard.Kalan wrote:Usyk hits real hard for a Cruiserweight... are you kidding??? ... Re: Usyk is Hoping To Eventually Fight Anthony Joshua
That's like saying Kovalev has only 1 stoppage in his last 3 fights... You have to take his career in totality... He has 12 pro fights... Already 3 have been World Title Fights... He has an 83% KO ratio... His KO ratio will get knocked down to the 65 or 70 percent range because he's in a very tough division.

Yes, Kovalev is not as destructive against spoilers as against people who are willing to fight him. Both Glowaki and Hunter are not spoilers like Chilemba and Ward.Kalan wrote:That's like saying Kovalev has only 1 stoppage in his last 3 fights... You have to take his career in totality... Feather-fisted Ward had almost 80% KO rate in his first 17 fights, but as soon as he started fighting people with pulse, it dropped dramatically.
Usyk tries to fight like Loma, but he is nowhere close to Vasyl.
Re: Usyk is Hoping To Eventually Fight Anthony Joshua
Usyk has skills, speed and mobility of WW, chin and cojones of HW, only his punch power is average for CW.
I think he is capable to defeat Joshua, it would be 50/50 fight.
The most dangerous opponents for Joshua are Fury and Usyk.
Wilder would have a puncher's chance, Ortiz has passed his prime, unfortunately.

Nobody is close to Vasyl... Tunney, Pep, and Sanchez didn't have his boxing genius.boxing_rocks wrote:Usyk tries to fight like Loma, but he is nowhere close to Vasyl.
If VL was getting the fights he deserves to be getting, he would have already established himself as the world's best fighter in minds of just about everybody who knows anything about Boxing... It looks like they're trying to force him into higher weight divisions by pulling Mikey from 135 as soon as Lomachenko calls him out - and blocking him from fighting the other champs at 130 or even Salido and Davis. What they'll probably do is make Salido fight Davis. Then when Salido gets crushed say "OMG...Davis has to be the best fighter in the world."
Usyk has a better fistic record as a pro than Lomachenko -- if that's what turns you on -- and if you don't believe in robberies... But just associating with somebody like Lomachenko is going to make Usyk a better boxer and puncher. Unfortunately the US and UK are devoid of great Cruiserweights -- so you wonder how much worldwide recognition Usyk is ever going to get at 200.. He's no young pup.

This thread is full of misinformed cretins.
Size wasn't an issue when Usyk was beating super heavyweights in WSB with bigger gloves.
