The only thing that comes close to watching Hopkins get stuck into Buncey and the subsequent squirming, was watching Boomer take a pasting from Adonis.

Bunce has a talent, he knows his stuff and few people could run a show solo like he does on occasions , but he isn't a bloke I'd go down the boozer with unless he was paying and he left his biro at home.

So why did you write a thousand word diatribe (twice edited) listing your writing "accomplishments" , telling everyone how long you'd been on boxing forums , chronicling various long forgotten demeaning comments that you attribute to Bunce, slating some poor forum member who suggested rightly that you were pursuing a vendetta and accusing him of supporting Bunce merely because they were both published authors? I suppose that was irony too lol. Or maybe just the first draft was, or the second.

I like watching Buncey on telly, I find him entertaining, simple as that. You on the other hand have some grievance that you won't reveal. I strongly suspect Buncey has snubbed you at some point and your world is so small you've not gotten over it yet.

If anyone's interested Bunce was on BBC Radio FiveLive the other week talking about his book. It lasts about 25 mins from 1 hr 05 into the programme. Only a couple of days left to listen though. Personally he didn't exactly make me want to rush out and buy the book and after a while I found myself more interested listening out for his factual errors - of which there are a number. That's what happens when you put style before substance, eh?

There seems to be an increasing number of morons on boxrec. This used to be a forum where serious boxing matters were discussed in a civilised manner.
To come on here and slate the author of a boxing book in such a manner suggests there's a 'background' somewhere.
Some of these threads have become pathetic. I don't even fully understand what a 'troll' is but I strongly suspect there are half a dozen 'wasters' have started to bring down this website. I reckon there's dozens of real boxing people have begun to switch off.

Spot on. He's not a saint and he's not an axxhole, he's just a bloke making a living, it just so happens that his trade involves him being on telly and radio a lot, that's all. He's developed a persona over the years, which is fair enough. Some of us think he's good at what he does, others disagree, but to brand anyone something really vicious, based on very little personal experience, is pretty nasty in itself when you think about it.

I like Buncey & Lillis.

I've no interest in his book or any other literature he may have published but in those quiet lonely Sunday-morning hours between the end of British card & the start of an American one, Buncey has been there for me, keeping me entertained with his nonsense. It's like listening to a fat but somewhat knowledgeable bloke down the boozer at times, but there's something far more authentic with Buncey than you'll ever find from the boring, wooden, polished presenters Sky will throw your way, like Smith, Nelson or even Redknapp, Ed Chamberlain etc, that anchor the footy. I'd never stay awake in the small hours with some wooden empty suit like that.

As someone else has already said I can take or leave Bunce, I think he is a better writer than broadcaster.

I find his broadcasting style too bombastic for my liking although he can be entertaining at times, he just needs to rein it in a bit at times.

I bought his book and am enjoying it, I got into boxing in the early eighties, so it has brought back happy memories, I suppose I am the target audience really.

I think he's fking shite. Piss poor, totally out of his depth. He costs the channel viewers. I used to enjoy reading him occasionally, but now every time I try I keep hearing his whiney, mockney voice.

If you just had him doing a little bit of colour, where he has a rant, waves his arms about like Magnus Pike, then gets back in his box, it'd be funny. But he's no presenter, and he's not really a writer. He's a boxing gobshite, and he's a bit scared because there's thousands of boxing gobshites these days that could do his job.

I think he knows a lot of great facts and little anecdotes that can be fascinating but the problem is a personality thing, he is very polarising and for me it is all a bit much - boorish, loud, annoying and he ruins decent boxing moments with his constant interjections which come out as high pitched squeals. He does like to throw himself or stories involving himself into most conversations (a habit that annoys me about Fearon on the Sky Sports podcast) which feels like a case of a guy desperate to show that he is important and that these important boxing people know him and he knows them.

But I have nothing against the guy, just the style is not my cup of tea but the content of what he says rather than how he says it is decent although on the podcast after the Dirrell uncle smacked the guy in the ring he said: "The worse thing about the situation was the second punch was terribly thrown" which is a comment you would say in company, or write on a forum for a laugh but not what I expect from a professional working and commentating in a professional capacity.

Honestly think hes in the hes so bad he,s good category. Made a career out of kidding people on hes a lot more important that he actually is.
