Oh, it's certainly not that he owes me anything. But if he still has it, I wish he'd continue to take challenging fights, and if he's lost it, the situation could pretty quickly deteriorate to the point where some grocery store clerk is knockin' the ex-champ's teeth out in some state fair grandstand in front of fifty-two paying fans.

He fights for money and the American market isn't handing it out these days. Gotta be creative.

Yes.
And since his last 8 fights went to the judges it is probbly best to fight outside of the states. ;-)

When a veteran Hall-of-Famer that is far removed from their respective physical prime and they are the heavy betting favourite to defeat an anonymous unheralded opponent, well that can be a recipe for disaster if the Filipino great underestimates the underdog.

This fight matters, because this is the sort of situation whereby an upset is entirely possible.

I totally agree an upset is possible.
Horn hits hard and is young and very tough.
He lacks experience, and the pressure of the biggest fight and crowd in his career will be almost a bigger challenge than the fight itself.

If you are in Australia and want to see a legend live then fair enough. Otherwise this is a non event.

I am hopeful of one of two scenarios from the outcome of this fight. First would be a devastating KO by Pac, the second would be an upset by Horn. Anything in-between doesn't sound interesting. Its time for Pacquiao to retire if this is the best competition he is going to face. He either needs to face Crawford, Thurman, or Spence next, or hang them up. Probably will be the winner of Garcia vs Broner.

If Pacquiao were fighting a top Welterweight who can box AND punch like Thurman, Spence, Brook, or Crawford I would care about it.

But he never has in his life... so I ignore the little tyke, because he only fights guys he knows he can beat... He's taken a page from Khan.

I don't really care. Pac is pretty much only shadow of what he used to be. If he want's to take few easy pay days thats ok for me. He has deserved it.

I still won't be watching it.

If he decides to go against one of the top fighters I will probably watch it. You can't beat father time but maybe you can find a way to fool him one last time

Probably behind the curve on this, but just found out this fight is going to air live on ESPN. So, guess I will be watching it.

Well if it is his last fight, at least he is fighting an actual boxer, not an 0-0-0 but a 16-0. :-P
If Horn wins, preferably by devastating KO, will this launch him into the top tier?

Im not sure who Wins but lets not forget past Upsets.
an aged Larry Holmes was easily going to beat Michael Spinks..Tyson had to go to Tokyo to get interest in the Douglas fight. nobody gave Foreman a chance against Moorer. Clay against Liston and the list goes on and also on the list is Nobody gives Horn a chance against a 38 year old Pacquiao..
Upsets are what makes Boxing that little bit intriguing.
There is a little bit of "Rocky" in all of us.
And yes I'm hearing you all saying right now that Horn has no Hope....And I've read all the posts where you say you dont care about this fight and wont watch it. but come fight night .....YES YOU WILL. Cause your all looking for that "ROCKY" that major upset..You all remember where you were when Douglas beat Tyson....and you will want to witness an upset if it happens.

What do you base your statement on that Pac is only a shadow of what he used to be? In his last two fights he dominated two guys that are in their prime, and were no slouches. Roach claims he could be very competitive with any top welter, although he is being very selective.
Fans should not be hypocritical and give Pacquiao a pass because of his age. His competition has nothing to do with his age, it is simply in house fights that Arum wants, and can make the most money with. The ONLY top guy Pac will fight before retirement is Crawford, because Arum makes the most money.

It will launch him into a date with destiny; getting ktfo by a true top tier welter. Hitman Jr's entry to welter anyone?

I remember the Pac that threw 1000 punches per fight. The one who once nailed people with 7 shot combos. In those days he also went for the kill when he got opponent hurt.

Now days Pac throws less and less punches in every bout. He is also happy to cruise into points victory even if he has fighter he could stop in front of him. Good example is the Algieri fight. I had the feeling that old Pac would have blasted him out in few rounds.

In my opinion Pac has really underrated defense. He is that good that even when he has maybe 75% left of hes physical gifts he can still compete at the highest level.

I am not interested at mismatches but if that's all that Pac wants I don't mind. I will just simply ignore those fights.

Unfortunately for Kiwi fans it's not free.
It's not too expensive either, if the undercard was better I would fork out for it
And if TEDDY was commentating the missus would give the OK.
Yes, it's embarrassing, but she loves Mr Atlas and his intermidable waffle

You remember Manny stuffed to the gills with ped's. That's really the only difference. He's not prime but he's slipped minimally. A lot of people, not saying you, just have to say he's way past it because if he wasn't they'd have to credit Floyd for taking him to school.
