Does anyone know who owns the copyrights to Boxing News?
It has some articles I need permission to use for my book, particularly from the 1950's....

You don't need permission , the content is considered to be in the ' public domain' ie public knowledge.
You should out of courtesy mention them as a reference for your content

Yea - the difference between quoting/citing a source and reproduction of the entire document - depends which is intended as to whether permission is needed or not.
