The 117-111 card was abysmal.

OK  What's a banana bender :maybe:
Qld = bananabenders (due to banana farmers), NSW = southerners, Vic = mexicans, WA = wild wild westerners
Queensland is the name & banana & sugar is the game ;-) But neither where I live

Cheers :TU:

I know about the Mexicans bit. Cracked me up. I went to a wedding on the beach south of Geelong & they revelled in their Mexican tag, especially as I was living on the Cali/Mex border at the time.

I was looking at fight news and my hero Tedy Atlas' fight report

As they say in Australia - "when you beat a legend. You become a legend!"

A lot of legends in Australia these days...

Horn won.

Manny took too long to get into it, and when he did he wasnt winning the rounds as convincingly as people are making out. Manny looked dreadful and was bullied by a much bigger man. Horn looked massive in comparison. Manny never had the speed, timing, accuracy, strength or power to counter Horns approach. He looked so old and flat, with no ideas.

I know it was a big upset, but you got to call a spade a spade sometimes fellas, even if it does hurt your feelings.

Horn won the fight clearly and fair play to him.

He will win the rematch too.

I dunno. Many of the greats have that one last performance in them. A more focussed Manny could up his game in a rematch. Will be interesting that's for sure.

He will only be a bit older and he was never great with movement which is what horn brings. Wouldn't be surprised to see horn get him out of there

Yep.

And when people are trying to convince others (Teddy Atlas) that round 9 was a 10-8 ... , you know the amount of desperation they're scooping to for their guy to win.

Another laughable sign of this talking robbery bullshit is that fact that the so called experts screaming it are the same old faces that are known to have bias agendas, incompetents or simply let their emotions rule their heads.

I had Horn the winner by two rounds. I'm glad to see this thread up after everyone saying it was a robbery. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Horn won. I didn't give Manny a 10-8 in round 9. Even if I did I would still have Horn the winner by a round.

Very poor by Pacquiao in the 9th. Caught horn early and Horn was ready to go for about 2 minutes and Pacquiao was hitting fresh air for the rest of the round.

It wasn't anywhere near the robbery it was made out to be but I thought Pacquiao won. Horn was game as they come.

Thank god it was Jeff Horn and not Amir Khan he was fighting. We would never hear the end of it from Amir.

Will watch the fight later, if I can. Have had to switch off Pacman's last couple of fights. With the exception of the 4th Marquez fight, where he was intensely aggressive, Pac has been flat since 2011. He's been boxing since 1995 - far too long for anyone.

Pacman never gave up and clearly won the last round. He just didnt start well and never managed to get ahead at any time. Horn fought very well and had just a couple of bad rounds. Late on in the fight, bit too tired to remember which round, the ref told Horn he would have to do better or he would stop the fight. Horn came out and he did do better and the fight went on. I had Horn winning by two rounds so I think a rematch could be made if both fighters want it.

horn won it, he won it morally (he was forcing the action for most of it) and the rounds he won, he won big. he was also out on his feet in the ninth and then came back and won the 10th - fantastic effort, what guts.

horn was super-fit, aggressive and came through a real bad round. he was a deserved winner, although when they read the 117-111 scorecard first i thought they were going to rob him (it wasnt that wide a fight)

sad to see pacquiao looking so bad but this was a joe smith jnr beatdown against hopkins without the final knockdown. pacquiao also looked old like klitschko after he had AJ down, just couldnt finish the job and ended up paying for it.

fair play to jeff horn, he summonded up an incredible performance when everyone wrote him off. now lets get bradley skeete in the mix.

I see your logic but I'm just talking about that certain magic. You know what I mean. The reason why this sport keeps bringing us wonder. I'm not saying either way, I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised to see one last great Pacquiao.

Not to mention that he didn't lose the first time so all he needs to win the rematch is an equal effort to the first fight and honest judges.

Not to mention you have let Teddy Atlas's terrible commentary sway your judgement.

We'll have to agree to disagree, mate. I thought it was a close fight that could have gone either way, you followed Teddy :D

I'm going to re-watch it tonight (sound off) & do a basic scoring in which I just have 12 bits of paper and after each round put the round number then P or H or ?. I only score a round to each fighter if it's clear. I'm not doing this to determine a winner, I'm just seeing how many rounds were close & subjective.

That's how I feel about this fight. There were a lot of close rounds. But if you follow Teddy's shite commentary then you'll think otherwise.

I'll explain to you one more time. Commentary...ANY commentary does not effect my judgment. I have disagreed with EVERY commentator I've ever seen call a fight NUMEROUS times. Manny won the goddamn fight.

I don't like Manny, and as far as I'm concerned Teddy Atlas can't call or score a fight as good as I could so he has no sway over my opinion.

You can disagree with somebody without resorting to insulting their intelligence and suggesting they're an easily led sheep.

I don't go in for bullsh*t of any sort, and I'm not easily led.

Pacquiao just struggled with the movement of horn and Horn has a good enough chin and recovery to deal with Pacquiao. I thought Pacquiao would have a field day with left hands but he really struggled to land anything. He can't handle someone who moves in and out and gives him lateral movement. I do like it when cherry picks turn out like this.

No it wasn't. The only round that resembled a beatdown was Round 9 when Manny smashed Jeff around the ring.

Ewww...Horrible, lying brits that won't call bullsh*t when they see it.

This explains why Jamie McDonnell is popular there in spite of getting gift after gift. As long as he talks like us doesn't matter if he deserved it or not.
