Miguel Cotto at 168
Miguel Cotto at 168
Cotto is retiring this year. Why not aim to be a 5 division champion by facing one of the weaker title holders like Tyron Zeuge? He won't have to drain and has nothing to lose. He could of easily faced De Carolis while he was a champion as he was one of the weakest title holders at 168 in recent years.

Ummmm, no.
Re: Miguel Cotto at 168
He's undersized at 160 pounds. I think his next fight is gonna be at 154. Middleweight was already a bridge that normally would've been too far, but he the stars aligned for Cotto get the big win and take the Middleweight title.
He won't be winning any 168 pound titles. Even over the likes of Zeuge.

He may fight Lemieux. That's a good match up for him, assuming he's still what he was two years ago.gilgamesh wrote:He's undersized at 160 pounds. I think his next fight is gonna be at 154. Re: Miguel Cotto at 168
He's way too small. Even for his "middleweight fights" he was coming in way under 160. Was the Geale fight set at a 157lbs CW? He came in a few pounds under that iirc. He's a light middleweight at the biggest.
Re: Miguel Cotto at 168
I wouldn't make that assumption. I'd be picking Lemieux to beat him. Should be an interesting matchup anyway though.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:He may fight Lemieux. Re: Miguel Cotto at 168
Cotto is 5' 7" welterweight (who has been competing in the wrong division for a while) with a 67" wingspan. He really should not be fighting in a division where the fighters are 168 pounds, 6' 0", with a 74" wingspan. Especially because he is almost 37 and would have that disadvantage tandem with the massive size disadvantage.

I don't think very highly of Lemiuex, I think Cotto couldn't miss him with a blindfold on.gilgamesh wrote:I wouldn't make that assumption. I'd be picking Lemieux to beat him. Cotto would get beat by inferior boxers who are just too big at the top of 168

Re: Miguel Cotto at 168
I wouldn't like to see Miguel attempt that. He's too small for MW, I think a serious beating would be waiting for him at 168.
He should end his career back down at 154. I wouldn't want to see him fight Lemieux either; Cotto is too old and shopworn and shouldn't be taking punches from a guy like Lemieux.

I point out facts about his career when people make false claims pertaining to it. That's because I'm a fan of the truth.

What is going on in the CS lately? Why so much vitriol lately, and some coming from recognizable posters?

Lately? That's all the CS has been for yearspunchoutsb wrote:What is going on in the CS lately? Why so much vitriol lately, and some coming from recognizable posters?
I respond in kind when people give me sh*t, but I just keep carrying on with my thoughts and opinions on the discussions. People can take my comments as they will, I think they're usually pretty solid.

As you can see I've been here for a long time--it's been getting worse lately IMO. I enjoy my fair share of spirited debate, but the past couple weeks it just seems people have been getting far more wound than usual.gilgamesh wrote:Lately?
