Nice list. What points system did you use? How can Rigondeaux be rated so low, behind Mesa. Rigo won 2 Olympics and 2 worlds, Mesa won neither.

As regards my points system and Mesa/Rigo,I gave Mesa points for two world challenges, two world cups and two pan ams as well as points for the 1988 Olympics where I think he would have medalled. No doubt if there were world challenges now Rigo would have won a plenty and in no way do I compare the two.Rigo is probably the best cuban of them all.

Defiantly Lazlo Papp, you could put him 1st or atleast top 3, with Stevenson over Savon

You could add Dick McTaggart to the list but it depends what points and what reasons you included the boxers, you might even add the recent Alexander Povetkin as he too is surly an Amateur Star that has Achieved many great things.

But a very good list of true Champions :TU:

You could also add Sugar Ray Robinson - didn't win any world/olympic titles because of political climate at the time but was 125 - 0 as an amateur. Including a victory over Willie Pepp.
He won two golden gloves titles at feather and lightweight.
Him and Papp are the top two.

While Robinson was a good Amateur & a fantastic Pro, he is not number 2 in the list. We are talking about Tripple Olympic Champions with Teofilo Stevenson, Laszlo Papp & Félix Savón, & World & European Championship Titles to there names!

A record of 125-0 was a great Amateur perfomance, but Papp still managed to find time for a Pro Career with a 301-12 record and Stevenson a 302-20 amateur Record So Robison in the list but not number 2, i can can guess your a fan :D

Definately a fan of Robinson's. He probably WAS the best ever amateur, as he was most likely the best ever fighter to lace up a pair of gloves, but agree he can't go at the top against career amateurs like Savon & Stephenson etc.
Cheers though.

I would think Mark Breland belongs on the list somewhere. He was 110-1 as an amateur with 79 knockout victories, numerous Golden Glove and U.S. amateur titles, and an olympic gold medal.

Mike used a points system based on medals won, not about the record. Breland won 1 olympic gold and 1 world title. Savon won 3 olympics, 6 world championships, 3 Pan Ams, 4 World Cups, etc. Doesn't even compare. Also I think he started counting from the 70'ies, when the world tournaments started (World championships, World Cup, etc). That would explain why Laszlo Papp and others aren't on the list.
