May Vs Mc - after the fight, before the fight

Post by Kilsby »

Ok, the hype train is full steam ahead at the moment, some poor souls genuinely believe McGregor has a chance

This is the after the fight excuses which will be peddled by people - only pre-fight :TU:

A lot of UFC nuts who believe McGregor now and are placing there bets on McGregor by tko/ko in 2 rounds or 4 rounds will be crawling beneath the woodwork after the fight saying such things as:-

"McGregor will knock Floyd out in the cage"
"McGregor game him hell for a few rounds and his stamina packed in because he usually trains to be explosive"

Both could well be very true^^^

But sane people acknowledge this fact already and it will only dawn on the unsuspecting masses early Sunday morning.

McGregor has no chance.... Not even a punchers chance.

Yes you heard that correct - he doesn't hit as hard as Cotto, Marquez, Hatton, Corrales, De La Hoya or Canelo - I could probably add another dozen names to that list too. Maidana, Judah etc.

He has no technique for boxing, if he could - he would have been a boxer. He isn't.

This fight is all about the paycheck, his biggest purse is around $4m, he will probably get around $70-80m for this fight. He would have to fight 20 fights in the UFC at $4m a fight to generate that wealth. Good on McGregor!

He has to sell the fight obviously - but please, please don't try and convince me this is any type of contest.

The fight pans out like this, McGregor rushes Floyd for 2-4 rounds, gets countered to pieces. His little brain finally realises he can't continue to rush Floyd anymore.... He back offs, try's to get the moral victory by lasting the distance or Floyd puts his foot on the accelerator, pushes for the stoppage and McGregor either gasses, gets pulled out by his corner or the ref does a mercy stoppage and its called a tko.

All depends if Floyd carries him after he shoots his bolt going for the hail-Mary in the first 4 rounds.

I could have written this on the Sunday morning!

Haven't you seen Big Mac school world champion Paulie Malignaggi? You might change your mind when you do...

The only interesting thing is how many rounds Conor will last.

May will be hitting him clean really quickly. By all rights, Conor really shouldn't be making it out of the first round.

I have £1500 on at Bet365 for a return of £1950 which feels like free money BUT if by some miracle Floyd loses, jesus it will be awful and so damaging for our sport and those MMA guys will never shut up and with justification be able to lord it over us. I hate Mayweather and think he is a disgusting, unlikeable, misogynist, amoral w4nker but for the first time, I pray he wins.

I agree free money. But i would never wager that amount on anything not even a 1 horse race.

There could be a sting in the tale of this story.

When you think about it Mayweather , has been accused for years of dodging people in there prime , not fighting the best until there old and past it , and demamnding they make stupid weights ect ect ..

Well now he's fighting a guy in his prime , but unfortunatly the guy has'nt had a boxing fight he's a novice ,, So what does that show , it shows that if he can't put mcgregor away in the first , or maybee the second rnd , ITS ALL BEEN TRUE

I was looking at Betfair yesterday and Floyd has drifted from 1.17 to 1.29 (nearly 1.3) where the weight of the McGregor monies has went 7.8 to 4.9 region.

Think a lot of the monies is Irish/UFC with £10/£20 thinking they can win £140/£150 originally at his early price.

I'm like you I can't see by Floyd at 1/3 - there was about £500k waiting for 1/3 on Betfair last night as well so that looks the point where heavy hitters think he's value.

This party has to benefit three parties. Mayweather, Conor and the UFC.

Theres no way that a Conor win will benefit UFC as it will mean that there is more money in boxing for Conor than there is in the UFC. Conor vs Pacman, Malignaggi, etc.

A Mayweather blowout will mean the obvious conclusion that this is a mismatch and kill any possibility of a huge second payday for both.

While if Conor beats Mayweather it would make boxing completely farcical.

I'm predicting a "closer" than expected Mayweather win on points. Mayweather puts it down to age and Conor being better than expected. Conor touts Mayweather an incredible boxer that he learnt alot fighting and both are open to a rematch, thinking he can beat him if they fought again.

Think Mayweather vs. Maidana I and II. They can then do a big money rematch next year where Mayweather takes him more seriously and easily wins. Then Conor can go back to UFC for Nate III with his "much improved striking".

This fight is more WWE than WWE.

- More amazing to me is the low mentality of wagering hard earned money on the biggest hoax in boxing history. After all the bets have been placed, the bookies gonna have a meeting of the suits deciding the outcome, then relayed to the ref and judges.

Yeah, on paper Robert Byrd the circus master cracking his bull whip directed at Mac's overdeveloped torso. Gotta keep them boys in line, wink, wink with May safely swaddled away from any application of brute force, bolstered by his personal judges, Vegas commish, and drug testing cartel, Mac ain't got a chance. However, in a street fight or in the octagon, we know Mac would quickly bulldoze May without any monkey business assist, so there is that chance whether he dislocates a May shoulder, an unseen knee into in thigh, or sucker him in for a straight left.

Consensus had Maidana a crude brawler, but in the 2nd fight in the opening seconds he walked May into the ropes, faked a right to the body to switch directions and pop him on the temple. May grabbed, Bayliss broke, and May backed straight to the ropes, bounced off and dove for Maidana's waist, completely missing the mark, a delayed knockdown as Bayliss shat hisself. A few rounds later, seconds left and May backs to his corner thinking he's clever, Maidana fakes a left hook and clocks him so hard with a right that he did a 180 degree spin facing his corner where Daddy grabbed him quick as the bell rang.

Mac is the biggest, strongest guy he's ever faced by far. Oscar was old in his tubby years, and Canelo drained into a dangerous shade of blue from his 152 lb catchweight, and then the 165 lb rehydration catchweight. Is May gonna freeze on the ropes again?

And of course his dear little pinky booboo. BooHooHoo :TU:

Right.....

Its Sunday morning

* Connor gave him hell for a few rounds
* He ran out of stamina because he usually trains to be explosive in MMA
* Connor would win in the octagon

He actually did worse than I expected if I'm honest and I didn't expect much!

He looked at least two divisions higher than Mayweather and Mayweather hasn't stopped anyone in 7 years as a boxer.

He gassed quicker than I expected, never even gave it a go in the first couple of rounds and was as wobbly as mr blobby on a wobbly wobbleboard after 12 pints

Mayweather's last stoppage could hardly be called a stoppage either (I know officially it is).

1 proper stoppage in the last dozen years.

Well, two now.

Hopefully though Golovkin Canelo can attract some of that many new 'fans' that have popped up because of this.
