If Conor continues a boxing career

Post by dagilechia »

How he would do in your opinion? I think he would be a very mediocre fighter, can't see him winning a world title.

If he did it would not be worth it in the end all the beltings would start to mount especially if he fought an agrresive big puncher his boxing career would probably end real early it would be a hard sell to put him in with fridge contenders and over the hill fighters

At 154 he could face brook, Spence, cotto, canelo, charlo, Lara, Andrade etc

These guys would completely batter conor

Ofcourse they would, because you have named a selection of elite fighters, with at least 2 HOFers

I think he will fight Cotto next in Cotto's last fight before he retires.

If he does fight again, I hope it is a real fight instead of the choreographed BS we saw with him vs Floyd.

If he does want to continue, he needs to start from the bottom & work up.

He's well versed in combat sport, so he should learn pretty quickly, but right now, he doesn't belong in the ring with world class, or even European class fighters.

I predict that the WBO will rank McGregor and then he will fight Cotto for the WBO super welterweight title.

If McGregor was to box from here on those are the guys at the top of his weight class. The point is he's badly out of his depth boxing

If he continued boxing, I think his second fight should be against Malignaggi and his third to be against Khan. If there weren't logistic factors getting in the way, I would further prefer that McGregor got a win against a journeyman before the Malignaggi fight, just so that McGregor isn't dragging everyone down so much with his own 0-rating. But I think McGregor would rather collect some $1 million+ payday in the UFC than fight a journeyman boxer for $200k.

99% of boxers are out their depth vs those fighters.

I would imagine that part of the UFC allowing him to take this fight(he's still under a strict contract) was that he would return to the UFC in a certain time period.

I'm not sure what you're not getting about this thread

The question is "if McGregor continued a career in boxing"

I've said he'd be British level

I've added the top guys at his weight division if he fought in boxing

What's the bit you're disagreeing with

What British Level are ya thinking? I mean even a guy like Sam Eggington would dominate him with ease.

You said "these guys would batter conor" then listed a host of elite multiweight world champions. As if it's something to be ashamed of.

Not the point I was trying to make. Just literally who he could be matched if he continued to box and was matched at the top

Guys that aren't even in the Top 40 could dominate Conor.

Yeah I'd imagine eggington would out last him, Skeete would be too skilled, Gavin would be too. Maybe British level contender not British champion?
