Re: Andre Ward's next step ?
I could see him retiring and making a living commentating if he can't get Bellew to meet him at cruiser. I don't see Stevenson happening and pretty much everything else is too high risk / small reward at lhw or above.
There are nothing but good fights out there. I just don't see SOGgy taking them. Maybe SOGgy v Krushedner III about this time next year, if the Russian comes back strong with a couple of good wins.
SOGgy is probably the most enigmatic boxer of the last ten years.

Like him to fight Stevenson for all the belts carnt see Stevenson taking the fight tho

Stevenson hardly ever seems to get any big fights made ?forestbox wrote:Like him to fight Stevenson for all the belts carnt see Stevenson taking the fight tho
Ward would love Bellew at Cruiser but it's the money both would want and would it really do big PPV numbers for neutrals ?
Re: Andre Ward's next step ?
I'd prefer he stayed at LHW and take on all comers... I'm sure he'll pick a CW who will not be too taxing for him but who owns a belt of some description.
Re: Andre Ward's next step ?
I see Ward possibly fighting Chickenson. At some point Chicken is going to look to retire. He has to fight a risky fight at some point and take another loss. He already has a KO loss so he doesn't have an O to risk. Ward is going to look to box around Beterbiev, who should have 20 to 30 fights by now by has been kicked downstairs by Haymon. The Chickenson fight is one way Ward can get a high profile easy win.
Kovalev has been screwed around royally by the North American Boxing Establishment -- including his coach.. He's going to have a hard time going forward getting significant fights. A 3rd Ward fight is out of the question now that they robbed the title from him. Joe Walcott got a 3rd fight with Ezzard Charles who won their first 2 fights -- basically because Walcott was the best contender at the time and it was a good matchup.. Kovalev may be matched with Beterbiev, Bivol, or Gvozdyk. He won't get fights with Marcus Browne, Badou Jack, or Chickenson.. This is the business of Boxing which is not a sport. Commissions, promoters, orgs, advisors, VADA, referees and judges are all looking to do business as well. That's why the con job called May-Mac did as well as it did.

Re: Andre Ward's next step ?
I'd expect a long layoff.
Re: Andre Ward's next step ?
I'd like that fight too, and the money would be huge- but - Moany Bellend sees his future in HW and at the pie shop. I don't think he can get back down to cruiser. I also think there is a title triangle concocted by Eddie involving Parker Haye and Bellew.3132DW wrote:Stevenson hardly ever seems to get any big fights made ?forestbox wrote:Like him to fight Stevenson for all the belts carnt see Stevenson taking the fight tho

Re: Andre Ward's next step ?
I would love to see Ward against Bellew who is a guy who will low blow/elbow/rabbit punch you back.
Re: Andre Ward's next step ?
Ward is a quality quality operator, but not one I'll miss when he's gone. He's the kind of boxer that takes more than he gives the sport imo
I expect him to stay at 175 with sparse activity

I'd say based on kovalev 1, the cruisers at the top have a fair shot vs him.
175 he's the best though. And 168 if he can still make it

Retire and enjoy money. His dirty tricks and boring boxing style is bad for sport of boxing, which is in trouble even without Wards fights.

Re: Andre Ward's next step ?
Staying at LH without unification is the best option. Chikenson wont fight Ward ever but even without him there are plenty of exciting fighters in the division for Ward. He has no business fighting heavies. CWs are all tied up.
Re: Andre Ward's next step ?
If you're not stone blind and watched Ward's last 2 fights...you know the officials helped him.. He lost the first fight and the rematch was a BS stoppage.ClivePatrickLyons wrote:Someone got a different opinion doesn't mean they are talking sh.t unbeaten since a 12 year oldhis in his early 30's show me another in the game today who can say that the guy has reached the mountain top more then once

Kovalev's coach was even working against him behind the scenes...trying to move over to Ward's camp and then lying his ass off about it.. These dastardly deeds won't be sorted out in this life...but let Ward fight the top Light Heavyweights in Eastern Europe and his ass gets beaten.

Re: Andre Ward's next step ?
My honest opinion, without any prejudices ------AW is a great champion, likely #1 SMW, since 2000 (I suppose RJJ's and Calzaghe's fans would not agree, but it might be a dead race among them). He defeated Kovalev twice, and I think he is the better one, but on the neutral venue, with neutral ref and judges, he would have lost the first match, and the second one would have been very questionable. Simply, AW has been using so many dirty tricks, so, there is no way for me, to be fond of him. His skillset is an excellent, and I feel that he would easily defeat any recent LHW. The only exception is Beterbiev, he is too strong, with the supreme inside game, so I think AW will avoid him, if he stays at LHW.ClivePatrickLyons wrote:ValMar wrote:Do not exaggerate, please !ClivePatrickLyons wrote:Beats anyone from cruiserweight/light heavyweight/Super Middleweight![]()

It would be quite different story at CW. I think Usyk would toy with him, Briedis and Gassiev, too.....
I can not imagine him at HW, Joshua would destroy him, Ortiz and Wilder, too, I mean he would be literally destroyed, he is too tiny for CW and HW...
