It wouldn't do 5 times more. No way in the world. And as I said before, it won't break May-Mac, no chance. It'll do similar numbers to Joshua-Klitschko.mickey1975 wrote:It would do 5 times the Pulev fight. Surely Tyson has something to do with it? I've never seen a VADA case take so long - something stinks about the whole episode. Whys he not hounding then in court - media etc. He was undisputed Champ of the World and hasn't been seen since.

Maybe Fury knows that he was doping but now staying away from pushing his legal battle until the substances go out of his body. Some steroids take 18 months to clear.
Fury did say yesterday he would be back after slagging off AJ again, but thats nothing new.
Once his body is clean he can push his case and make others look inept.

Doesn't the fighter have to agree to a date before the hearing gets a confirmed date? And aren't VADA's hands tied with regards to information on boxers who's hearing hasn't been agreed?3132DW wrote:Tyson would sell the arse of it - absolutely.mickey1975 wrote:It would do 5 times the Pulev fight. You seem to be labouring under the misapprehension that Tyson is popular. He's not. It would sell well because Joshua sells like nobody else in this country, and to be fair, Tyson is easier for Hearn to sell as an opponent as he's not a fairly unknown, non-English speaking fighter like Pulev,mickey1975 wrote:It would do 5 times the Pulev fight. It would certainly be big, but that would be on two fronts: Joshua simply being Joshua, and Hearn selling it to the masses as 'roll up and watch big fat gypsy Tyson get sparked.' That will sell. Tyson tweeting about Jesus and dressing up as batman? I'm not sure.
If Joshua does a million fewer PPV buys for Pulev than he did for Wlad that would mean he'd shift 2.5m for Fury if you're correct - roughly equivalent to one in every twenty four people in the whole country buying it. That's surely not happening.

You're right to an extent but I think your average working class boxing fan gives far less of a fvck about Tyson's opinions than the achingly liberal media would have us believe. Making a joke about " a woman's place" or saying a certain girl looks nice in a dress isn't considered a discriminatory comment by vast swathes of the population. The perpetually outraged Twitter morons are a tiny minority albeit a hugely vocal one. Tyson's comments about homos are below the belt but would your average bloke in the street really decide not to buy a PPV fight just because of such comments ?Finn wrote: The issue with Tyson is he says and does stupid bloody things which has estranged his public support. I'm a Tyson fan but the whole "I'm prejudiced because I'm a gypsy" bollocks that they believe is just nonsense, yes there is an element of that, be he's prejudiced because he doesn't know when to keep his opinions and beliefs to himself many of which are offensive to a lot of people and that is a fact. If he kept his mouth shut when it came to politics, religion and homosexuality he would be on TV shows, chat shows all sorts, he would have loads of public support.
Not one person gives a eff about a TV, sports or Film celebrities opinions on serious topics. Not unless they are particularly knowledgeable about a particular topic or respected as an expert or intellect. So why has Tyson got it in his head we want to hear him chatting poo constantly, save that for your friends and family.
You don't see Ricky Hatton telling people his views on women's rights and gay marriage. He cracks jokes and used to bash people, AJ he could hate all white people for I care but he keeps it to himself so it wouldn't bloody bother me.
I'm sure Tyson is a very nice fella but he's made himself an outcast.
Maybe in this case it's the messenger we should be shooting. IFL and Kugan ask him and BJS all kinds of leading questions knowing full well that Tyson and Billy either don't have the intellect to spot the traps or the discipline to moderate their answers. It doesn't excuse some of their more unpalatable answers but without IFL many of Tyson's views wouldn't have seen the light of day.
Should he keep his mouth shut ? Yep and he should speculate to accumulate by hiring a proper press officer, pay him 100k a year, avoid all the silly IFL sh1te which only a few thousand hardcore fans watch anyway and build his profile properly and soon enough if FW can pull his finger out and deliver him some big fights he'll be as big a name as AJ
Re: HUGHIE FURY VS JOSEPH PARKER ON YOUTUBE PPV ? PLUS LESS THAN 1000 TICKETS SOJTTD
He's not being asked leading questions on Twitter though. The reason for his reputation was because of his totally unprompted outbursts. The reason Hatton, Calzaghe and co were never asked about their thoughts on gay rights was because they didn't keep bringing up gay people for no reason!CaptainSpacerod wrote:You're right to an extent but I think your average working class boxing fan gives far less of a fvck about Tyson's opinions than the achingly liberal media would have us believe. And he'll never be as big as Joshua because he's not exciting. His fight with Klitschko was given the same platform as Joshua's fight with the same guy; one fight was panned and the other hailed a classic, and the only contrary opinion seems to come from the bitter Fury camp moaning about a borefest not being treated the same as a back and forth war.

He's no KO artist which is what attracts the casuals but he's got way more charisma than AJ which would help to redress the popularity imbalance and put bums on seats.dirk2686 wrote:

I'm not trying to sound pompous because I'm no expert but i'm surprised that real boxing fans would describe Tyson v Wlad as boring. It was an interesting tactical battle and deserves more praise than it got imo.

I've been watching the sport intently for 41 years and that was the worst title fight I can recall. It kept my attention because I desperately wanted wlad to lose. But the boxing was terrible.

A mate of a mate was with John and Peter a couple of weeks ago. Tyson's 30 stone, he keeps dabbling with training, but quickly packs it in. Still depressed off his arse and unable to motivate himself.

All praise for how Fury achieved the win , but I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than watch that dross again .
As for charisma I prefer quiet and unassuming characters myself , takes all sorts I suppose .

Tyson is hugely popular, but sadly only with his fanboy cockriders. His Batman stunt and the associated pretending by Peter and co that they knew nothing about it was one of the most cringeworthy episodes in boxing. He would however be a good foil for Eddie to use to promote a fight vs AJ and it would do similar numbers to Wlad but mainly due to AJ and Eddie.

If I was living in or near Manchester I'd be popping up to the arena on the night looking for a BOGOF or even some freebies to fill up the arena
Re: HUGHIE FURY VS JOSEPH PARKER ON YOUTUBE PPV ? PLUS LESS THAN 1000 TICKETS SOJTTD
Not true mate. If you are exciting and brutal then you can be forgiven a lot. McGregor isn't PC but sells massive because his UFC fights are exciting. Mike Tyson said and did some terrible things but still sold big.Finn wrote:The issue with Tyson is he says and does stupid bloody things which has estranged his public support. AJ has Eddie Hearn and Sky's colossal marketing machine to promote him whereas Tyson has Mick Hennessey and IFL.
AJ has been in trouble with the police for drug offences and has reportedly been an absent father yet Tyson as a good father and family man who's never been in trouble with the law is perceived by the wider public as a villain whereas AJ is the humble good guy.
Tyson went to the undisputed champ's backyard and sensationally upset the odds whereas AJ beat a diminished Wlad yet AJ gets all the plaudits whereas Tyson's achievement went pretty much unheralded.
The point I'm trying to make is that had Tyson been looked after by Hearn and Sky he'd be the good guy selling out arenas with 10million Twitter followers and if AJ had suffered the misfortune of signing up with Mick Hen he'd be the outsider villified in the media for his mistakes in life.
AJ sells so well because he is explosive and in fights that end in brutal, vicious, conclusive violence... that is what gets the viewers. Casuals lap it up.
Sadly, Tyson Fury's performances have never been so spectacular nor exciting. And I'm no hater. I would love to see Tyson box the head off Joshua. Fury has the profile though not the level of exposure that Joshua gets through Sky.
The reality is that Tyson Fury stinks the place out in boring fights. That's why he doesn't sell to the masses.

Fury Wlad polarises people. Master class or snooze fest. Every single boxing fan I know loves big Tyson. The local pubs would be packed with people supporting him. Everyone from every gym I know would be! City centre trendy bars would be pro AJ. His popularity has grown massively. Unfortunately, I don't think he'll be back.

This place is more than extremely biased towards Fury because Twitter tells a different story, Facebook tells a different story, etc. in terms of his popularity and views of his skills, accomplishments and personality. EVERYBODY wanted to see Fury vs Wilder and picked Fury to win that. EVERYBODY figured on Fury beating Klitschko in the rematch. But then he retired, and it seemed everyone turned on him. He admits to drug addiction, depression, etc and it only becomes fuel for more hatred, etc. Then comes along AJ beating an even older, slower, inactive KLITSCHKO just by the skin of his teeth and they equate that with such superb greatness that people automatically started asking, "Who would win AJ or Muhammad Ali?" and other ridiculous crap. The irony for me is, the British had an undisputed champion in Fury, but never took to him... Most in these forums are British or Irish... I can only suspect the mindset that all gypsies are thieves, liars, etc comes into play here considering gypsies are denied service in stores, bars, etc in many places across Europe. The last bit of "acceptable racism" in the world. And the British own it 100% and they will not deny it.

I honestly don't think people didn't take to him as he was a traveller he won a boring fight then said a lot of things that people didn't agree with. Had he won the gold in London like Joshua turned pro and been knocking everyone out and had sky pushing him he would of been as big as Joshua. Casuals watch boxing to see bangers and unfortunately don't want to see technical fighters winning 120-108HomicideHenry wrote:This place is more than extremely biased towards Fury because Twitter tells a different story, Facebook tells a different story, etc. in terms of his popularity and views of his skills, accomplishments and personality.
